harman kardon vs Alpine stereo

From what I've read the ANC CH01 won't work with Alpine systems with the factory sub. Can anyone confirm this?
That's what I was thinking too.. It says for non amplified systems.. The instructions make that very clear that if the vehicle has a sub from the factory and/or center channel this will not work...

I must not be very fussy or maybe the fact that my 2002 had a less than stellar audio system......but I am quite happy with the 9 speaker Alpine system in the new truck. Works for me and my taste.

The sub in the Alpine system is lackluster and hardly noticeable in most songs. I got way more bass and thump out of an 8" Kicker Hideaway self amplified sub I installed in my 2013 1500. I am considering installing one under the passenger seat of my 2500 but may go a different route knowing about the ANC issues.

That's my exact thoughts.. There's more bass from the church across the street than Metallica on this Alpine system ...

I just ordered the custom amp system harness DRJCAMP from llj (link below) and a kicker hs10. I may try to use the aux switch pass through under the dash to wire this up to avoid running the 12v through the firewall to the battery. Hopefully this will make for an easy install. I'll keep everyone posted with results.

Strange. The sub in my Alpine system does very well as long as you don't listen to Sirius XM. It does tend to hit on the lower frequencies though. With the right song, it rattles the truck. Almost like it is an LFE. I added Infinity reference speakers to the dash to add the highs in and have my fader shifted towards the rear now.

Maybe it varies, I felt the alpine in my 18 sounded good with plenty of bass. All the sound from my 21 with the hk seems to all come from the front speaker in the middle of the dash.. I have it faded 3/4 to the back.when I turn the bass up on the hk it thumps (not in a good way)
I mostly use a flash stick full of music ,I agree with above that it sounds better then the sirius .

Super easy, the anc module is either under the driver seat, or tucked up by your e-brake pedal, unclip a couple harnesses and clip in the bypass cable to the spots that mate and you’re done.
Thanks, that certainly is easy, I’ll have to put eyes on truck in the mornin. Still have to set some other stuff up as well and refresh my dose of NEW TRUCK SMELL.;)

I just traded my Laramie 1500 2020 sport with Alpine yesterday for a 2021 2500 longhorn with the Harman Cardon The Alpine sounds really good and I’ve had four of them in the past including my Laramie and three jeeps. I have also had two Harman Cardon
systems counting this long horn that I just bought yesterday. The Harman Cardon does sound better than the Alpine no doubt.

Does it have the factory sub though?
If you click the link and scroll down there is a separate link to a harness for Alpine based systems and ALL TRIM LEVELS.

That said.....are guys removing the factory stuff like amp and sub and replacing it or adding to it? I'm not a stereo guy and mine works. Just asking.

Yes. It was when I replaced the factory sub with aftermarket that the ANC really started acting up. This harness cured it.

I can tell you that once I bypassed ANC and freed up the speakers to play nothing but music the stereo sounded a hell of a lot better, but this is just the base 6 speaker system.
with the 8 inch and larger radios they should really make ANC an option. It wouldn't be that hard to enable/disable it with a toggle in the settings. Kind of like my AirPods or any headphones with ANC.. Would be a nice touch.

I had a rental 19 with alpine, buddy has an 18 SLT with base stereo, i have the Harmon in my 20, and hands down the Harmon blows the rest out of the water, I’ve had other trucks in the last 5 years and their premium systems don’t even compare.

I traded my 1500 long horn for a 2500 larmine today. I went from the Harmon to Alpine and I can say the Harmon is much better. I didnt realize how good the Harmon was until I turned the radio up on the way home haha.
