harman kardon vs Alpine stereo

I traded my 1500 long horn for a 2500 larmine today. I went from the Harmon to Alpine and I can say the Harmon is much better. I didnt realize how good the Harmon was until I turned the radio up on the way home haha.
Would be nice if ya could upgrade to the Harmon without the hefty price of Laramie level 2... I would have gladly done that if offered in level 1 trim.....

I have the Alpine, buddy has the HK. Mine has more bass, so I prefer it. Treble and mid range hurts my ears

I have the Alpine as well. And while it has good bass and great overall sound, i'd definitely prefer more mids and highs. I have the mids/highs turned all the way up on the EQ and still not enough.

Great sound system overall though for a stock unit!

No experience with the HK as I have a Laramie with the Alpine. I do love it though and think it sounds great. I came from a GM truck with the upgraded Bose system and I was worried the Alpine wouldn’t sound as good but it has exceeded my expectations. Plus adding the HK would have required the next package up i just don’t think a few extra speakers are worth 3k more.

My old suburban wasn’t bad with the Bose system. My dads Sierra Bose system is so bass heavy, it’s horrible. I like my bass, but it’s not even deep bass, it’s the mid bass - it’s just blah. Was really not impressed when I heard his.

I agree with you, the Alpine definitely has more bass! I just picked up my Big Horn and I optioned the Alpine on the build and I am very happy with it.
I had the HK in my 19 Rebel 1500 and it was AMAZING but it didn’t have the bass that the Alpine does.

I always thought my PW with the Alpine was amazing. I picked up my 3500 with the HK there is absolutly no comparison. Reading this forum I was scared of my decision to order it but now I'm so happy I did zero regrets.

I found that you need to tweak the settings of the HK system as the highs are far too loud and thin for my taste. I generally prefer a system that is pretty balanced over one that leverages a ton of bass. I do wish there was a little more punch in the HK base but once I did some basic adjustments I found the system was rather good for a factory system.

I recently bought my 2021 Limited MC DRW 3500 with the HK stereo. I checked out one with the Alpine and it is simply NO comparison. I have a pretty baddass YouTube Playlist and I like to crank the tunes.

So if you like to turn the dial to 13, find a HK system. There were several at Kernersville in NC. Ask for Lauren or Mary in internet sales... they will get you hooked up!

Enjoy the PlayList!!!

I'll give you props, good set list!

Just wish Mopar would do something about the SQ of SiriusXM.
This is a result of Sirius bandwidth and there isn't anything any OEM can do about it. Having a higher quality stereo only makes the low bitrate more noticeable. I only use Sirius if I want background noise.

Overall I agree. It’s a bandwidth issue. However, some tuners do sound better than others. My suburban XM account sounded great. Couldn’t tell the difference between iPod or XM. Same with some plug and play tuners. They sound great. I will admit, they were all XM before the merger. So now that they are one, may have something to do with it.

I had the Alpine in my 2017 1500 Laramie, it was ok but not spectacular. Now with the HK system in the Limited I think it blows away the Alpine system I had. But then everyone's opinion is subjective as everyone hears music differently . Also being half deaf in one ear doesn't help me either as I don't hear the highs in that ear, luckily it's my left ear lol.

Currently have a limited 3500 SRW mega with harman kardon and I'm looking, at a limited dually 3500 mega but it does not have the limited level 1 package therefore no harman kardon audio. It has every other option I need and want. Has anyone had both audio systems? I really love the stereo in my current truck and don't want a significant downgrade. Thanks

I don’t know what these people are smoking but IMO the Alpine system stomps the crap out of the HK. I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee Summit with the 19 speaker HK, and a 2020 Grand Cherokee SRT with the 10 speaker Alpine. The alpine is waaaaaaay better. The HK is soft and anemic. The mids and highs are indistinguishable and the low bass notes are not there in the HK. In fact I upgraded the wimpy under powered 10” HK sub to a DS18 shallow mount 10” and added an external amplifier to feed it. That required a special harness from PAC audio to bypass the ANC.
The alpine system does not need any upgrading. The HK looks cooler with the silver trim around the speaker grilled but audibly the HK sucks

I ordered by 2019 1500 Laramie with the HK and I wasn't impressed with the sound. I ordered my 2022 2500 Laramie with the Alpine and I like the sound much better. I think is all comes down to personal preference.

I agree I ordered my 21 3500 with the HK coming from a 19 PW with the Alpine. The best way I could put it is the Alpine was the stereo I wanted when I was 16 that thing hit hard for a factory stereo and sounded great. But the HK seems to be crystal clear just not as much bass.
