Would love to see the data you keep locked away to substantiate your claims.....
It’s on the internet, dollar per performance. It’s been that way for 20 years, nothing is hidden. Just do some research.

Yup....it is on the internet...the banks cover out performs and cost less to operate than the flat backs that take twice the oil....so other than your disdain for the banks cover what is it youre using to dispute the r&d gale did? It’s on the internet, dollar per performance. Out performs....as in cools better....don't think for one second I thought I got 200 hp out of diff cover....Performance?? We are talking about diff covers here. The fact Gale Banks can persuade anyone they gain performance from a diff cover is comical. Sure, the "Engineered" fins do in fact keep the diff cooler, no arguing that. The question that needs answered is "Does the factory cover allow the oil to get so hot that the oil starts to break down and lose its lubricity and damage drivetrain components"? Theres no need for an aftermarket cover especially for those of us who do maintenance as planned. For someone who wants to simplify diff oil changes this cover is nice but that's about all you get besides a "bling bling" piece. At the end of the day his cover keeps your oil cooler than a factory cover but you are not gaining anything from cooler oil.
Additionally, all of Banks performance parts rave about how much air they move by providing flow bench numbers. His flow bench numbers mean nothing, all of his intakes, ram air horns, boost tubes have flow data that vents to atmosphere.....0 restriction. The point im getting at is even if he increase flow 300% on a product this does not translate to an increase of 300% in your engine, you are limited by what the engine can take in. This is where dyno results would be nice to support his claims but you wont see those anywhere. He uses his dyno for testing but the only numbers you will see posted are ones that gain horsepower. His products are well constructed but provide little to no gains in terms of performance for lightly modded trucks. Sure, if you are building a sled puller or drag truck, there are gains to be had from bigger charge pipes and better flowing intake air horns but for stock trucks with a tune....... not so much.

Youve still have not presented one ounce of data to back your incessant blabbering....Ah yes, thought I could detect that level of butthurt than only comes from buying a Banks product and then reading the general dislike of their overpriced products![]()
At least you’re also paying for more fuel to spin your cooler diff![]()

Hmm the dealership said 6.76 pints and ordered me 4 quarts of 68449546AA. Its not here yet but online I dont see it list gl5 anywhere one the bottle. Even this simple task is a pain dealing with them. They weren't even sure which fluid or how much. Until the came up with those numbers.I just used the AMSoil... no additve.
Front is 4.2 pints
Rear is 8.5 pints
My rear diff cover has always been pretty cool to the touch. Gear oil is pretty cool if you look at how it works. In reality unless it gets contaminated it really should last forever. I emailed ram tech and they said this what I should use.
Thanks jadmt, it is appreciateI went with Amsoil Severe Gear 75-90.

not the dealer. RAM. but yes I like to feel comfortable and always use OEM filters and the oil they recommend. been doing it since the early 70's. Never had a rear end, tranny or engine fail. But I know a waste of money but makes me feel good. The dealer is always going to tell you to use their stuff...
If it is what makes you comfortable, go with it...
Were you towing the space shuttle? There's no way your diff should ever get hot enough to melt paint unless something is very wrong with it or you painted the cover with finger paint. I suppose towing a super heavy load at high speed with a 30" tire on one side and a 40" on the other could heat it up a bit too.my 2008 dif got so hot it melted the paint off towing at 12k miles with stock cover. FWIW no problems when I traded it in. I used an oil extractor to change my diff fluid at 6k miles on my 2021 just to put Mobile 1 in. Worked great.
