Crusty's 75th Annv PW #1590 build/mods adventure

Well I'm not sure what is going on. Just bad road? Bad tires?

On my way home today, cruise control set at 77. Minor right turn in the road. I decided to hit the center line divits to see if I still had any front end issues. This is the spot where I normally get a bit of death wobble if I drift over center.

Lucky today, I was alone. Got the most severe death wobble I have ever had. Hit the brakes to start slowing down, but the death wobble continued. I was down to probably 30 MPH before it finally stopped. Just about crapped my pants it was so bad.
Other than that, truck drives and feels better normal driving.

Well driving the road again. It seems it's only one spot in the road that has the perfect storm to cause me death wobble. Any other place in the road, although the conditions look to be the same, I have no issues and can barley feel the bumps in the road.

Watching a video today, it may be my tires. Whike the cupping issue seems to be gone, I still have some leftover cupping on the tires. And I'm now down to the wear bars. So time to shop for new tires.

I can’t imagine that worn tires would cause that to continue though. Something has got to still be off. It might warrant taking some measurements of the suspension mounts on your truck and comparing them to another truck. Maybe something got tweaked?

Its worth your time to unbolt the track bar to frame and just check the mount. Even a little bit of plat between the bolt and hole can cause it to start wobbling, which in time will cause more frequent and worse wobbles due to it ovalizing the hole.

I'd be surprised if tires are the culprit here, but I suppose if they need to be replaced anyway its not a bad move.

Well as most know I've installed the following:
Balance beads to correct the tire balance.
Carli adjustable track bar.
Fox 2.0 IFP shocks all around.
Apex Drag link.
Apex tie rod bar
Fox 2.0 IFP stabilizer.

Made some more progress on my wiring harnesses.
Tore apart the interior and ran the wire bundle from the overhead console where the switch panel will be,

Down the A pillar and into the dash.

And thru the block off plate for the clutch, which I do not have. Sealed it off with some great stuff gasket sealer.

But I ran into a weired problem.
I had wires attached to the battery for my rear LED work lights I mounted some years ago. I removed the wires as I'm moving everything light related up to the relay panel and switches panel.

Worked on the truck for a few hours, then went to start it to move it, and no go, it's dead. Charged the battery fir an hour and it started up. Ran for a while, then turned it off and continued working on the truck. Went to start it again and dead.
Jumped it with the wife's truck. Saw that some of my display settings had changed back to default. Changed them back and did a quick drive around the yard. Everything is reading correct. Gage shows 14 volts
Check at the battery post and confirmed 14 volts. Turned the truck off and checked at the battery post, 12.73 volts. All looks normal.
Gonna check again in a bit.
Can a battery die all of a sudden like that?
I've had the truck just over 3 years. Never had a starting or battery issue before.

It wouldn’t be uncommon for the batteries to die quickly, but since you’re working on wiring I would
make sure you don’t have a short or a failed on relay. The timing is awfully coincidental.

All I did was remove the ground and hot wire from the battery that were for my rear ked lights. I didn't connect any new wires yet. Just pulled out the wiring harness I disconnected from the engine bay to under the cab. It's one I installed. No cut wires or anything.
Could it be when I loosened the ground lug to remove the wire it did something?
Only other wires that were connected to those points are the ones for the AMP steps.

Could the battery connections you touched be loose? That could drain the battery
