Automatic Regen too often

I hope you can find someone that knows what the problem is and how to fix it. There is so many different systems and sensors that have to work as designed for the entire system to work. Far too complex to have an entire system that is untunable.

Yeah not holding my breath. Dealership put in for motor replacement and everything emissions related to be replaced since they had no idea what part was doing it. Ram denied it and said come back when CEL comes back on lol bunch of jokers.

Yeah unfortunately that’s their MO. No CEL all good.
 
Still going good here, about to and another dose of 6400 as it’s due. Awesome to see the time between regens close to 24hr , 1412 minutes in the upper left corner of my CTS3. When I see this number drop drastically after a regen. I know something was off or bad driving habits lol. The previous regen was 1263 minutes so not quite 24 hours but close enough.

I take pics of everything as the regen starts and ends. Wish the CTS3 could auto datalog when the regen starts and stops.

I wouldn’t put any faith or trust in the avg dist PID. It’s known to be inaccurate.

At one point mine indicated I was going well over 25 hours a regen, which we all know isn’t possible. I’ve also compared the reading to all my time between regens and nothing is close.
 
Well I guess everyone’s trucks are running good with no regen issues since the cooler weather has hit. Is anyone still having unresolved issues ? Just wanted to get the first post of the year in this thread lol.
Mine has been doing really well. Very consistent. 24 hour regen cycles like clockwork since October. It’s currently half way to its fifth consecutive 24 hour regen cycle. I haven’t seen any reading above 0% on the dashboard DPF gauge at all. It’s been at 0% since October. EGT’s are running 50-100°F hotter than in the summer. Drive cycles have remained consistently the same. No towing, all highway at 75mph for trips spanning 15-30 minutes at most for the majority of the time. IMG_9937.jpeg
 
I watched a video today showing installing a block heater cord on a 2024 2500 and noticed that the CCV hose now is attached to the intake hose between the turbo and air filter box. Not connected directly to the turbo as it is on my 2022. This method of attachment is what was used on my 2018 also. Does anyone know if they went to a different turbo after 2022 ?

No I don’t. I was searching YouTube to find how to route the heater cable. He was putting it on a 24’ 2500 and took the intake tube off and the CCV hose was in the elbow where it connects to the turbo.
 
Sorry for the confusion. That was not a 2024. I went back and looked and it was on a 4th gen truck. Sorry

That crossover tube and the way it’s plumbed into the intake has been something I’ve been eyeing up for a while now. Thought perhaps it might have something to do with the regen frequency issues. If they had made a subtle little change like that, would’ve added some credence to my theory. But alas, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I think it still has something to do with the forced air induction into the filter box. The variation of pressure in the air box. IDK
When towing or under boost it drops from positive pressure to negative pressure going into the filter. That’s my theory anyway.
 
I read in the owner manual about oil change interval:

Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 15,000 miles (24 000 km) if operation occurs with greater than 5% biodiesel blends. Oil change intervals should not exceed 6 months in either case. Failure to comply with these Oil Change requirements for vehicles operating on biodiesel blends up to B20 may result in premature engine wear. Such wear is not covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

From what I got out of that, any use of biodiesel greater than 5% requires 6 month oil change intervals regardless of mileage or hours. Also in June of 23, EPA mandates the use of more biodiesel usage increasing every year. But no increase for ethanol in gasoline.

Yep and yep, but days do not exceed 12k intervals. I change mine at 5k. It will only get worse with regulations, hopefully the next 4 years derails some of it.

Wonder how the diesel emissions compare to the wildfires they currently have.
