Automatic Regen too often

My dealer is telling me the same thing that DPF is long lead time and its OK to drive truck. I feel like this cant be good to drive around with this not operating correctly. I use this truck as Daily Driver.

I was skeptical but now I’m a believer! I started having more frequent (100 miles vs 300) regens in September. At the time I figured it was due to having Recall ZD4 c/w. Then I did a 3K trip with a 7K trailer and had a couple of regens during the trip. I was not happy! I started reading this thread and remembered I had replaced the air filter (Fram Titanium) just before getting the recall done. Replaced the Fram with an OEM and immediately got 300+ miles between regens. Regens also went from around 40 miles down to about 30. Thanks for doing what you guys do.

Well I guess everyone’s trucks are running good with no regen issues since the cooler weather has hit. Is anyone still having unresolved issues ? Just wanted to get the first post of the year in this thread lol.

My 2024 hit 8300 miles. Average regen at 1045 miles in 24 hour periods. running archoil since day one. DPF gauge has only registered over 0% once or twice and average 18.2mpg in a HO 3500 lol.

So far so good. its doing better then the 2500 SO but i didnt have a ton of issues in that either.

Mine is the opposite it seems. I got 371miles to regen and it was 50degs. When it got cooler it dropped right 50miles then 100miles. It has to be a computer issue.

I’ve been pretty consistent with just driving hwy, I can hit the 24hr mark. Stop and go drags me down as you can see.

Edit: forgot to add I’ve also been running archoil at the performance dose.

I agree with this being a computer issue. I run a ScanGauge on my truck. Ever since it has been installed in the truck, the EVIC has always been a little ahead of the SG on the hour meter for time since last regen. Not anymore. The hour meter on the truck seemed to hang up the last time I drove it. The SG was showing 5 hours while the EVIC was still showing 4 hours.

Yeah if I spend very much time in town, l have to take mine out on the highway and blow it out. I’ve been managing to make it to 24 hours without any towing but it takes me about a month and a half to get 24 hours on it.

Glad to hear it. I have also been running the Archoil in mine continuously since I started using it in June last year. Almost time for another dose of 6400D.

yea, since my trucks new i think im going to save my cleaner for when i do the fuel filters next.

It did a number on mine. I had gray soot in the tailpipe after the first regen of running it and it regened earlier than it normally would have. It definitely did some cleaning on mine.
On another note, the only early regens I’ve had (soot load triggered) have been when it has been to the dealer for recall work since September of 23.

lol, last time my tire guy was rotating my tires he said wow, you have 30k on the odometer? I was like yeah I do a lot of driving plus we travel a lot.

We like to travel too with the TT but it just didn’t work out to where we could go much last year. We had a trip to Canada and we flew. Had to save our egg money for that. Blocking off 2 consecutive months this year for travel. No dr, dentist, weddings or funerals, unless it’s mine lol.

when i am in town it wont build, but when i hit the open road and get up to 60mph it builds quick. Its like eating gas station sushi and then running a marathon......

I’m laughing at your analogy not your situation. I have to run mine up to atleast 75 on the interstate for 20-30 minutes or more to get it to passively regen. Faster is better. I have run it up to the defuel point a couple of times and it passively regens really fast.
I have been keeping a log on my truck, regens, anything that is done and correlating anything that changes on the intake system, fuel and driving habits.
I changed the air filter. DPF gauge on zero. Truck regened in 60 miles.
I had removed some of the AGS slats and later reinstalled them. DPF gauge on zero. Regened in 27 miles.
Added Archoil 6400D to the fuel. DPF gauge on 25%. Regened in 48 miles.
These trucks go into spastic mode with any minor changes I guess in an attempt to keep anyone from trying to do a work around the emissions or any other modifications. It’s crazy.

Also the sensor that reads the soot amount doesn’t read as much back pressure easing around town as it does when on the highway with higher rpm, boost and load on the engine. It’s loading up in town, there’s just not as much air going through the system.
The sensor measures the differential pressure between the intake and exhaust sides of the DPF. It doesn’t actually measure the soot amount in grams.

Lol, yeah it does load up in town then shows up on the freeway. its funny bunch of driving in down get on the on ramp and hammer down and gauge goes up. then keeps climbing from there and doesn't go down at all like it should. I am not running and fuel additives due to they need to fix my truck. Air filter is new and keep up maintenance just nothing extra to help regens.

I hope you can find someone that knows what the problem is and how to fix it. There is so many different systems and sensors that have to work as designed for the entire system to work. Far too complex to have an entire system that is untunable.
