ARB Air Compressor

I have been looking to add an adjustable mechanical regulator inline , so I can just let it rip and then cutoff once the target tire pressure is hit.
Just bumping this because it looks like ARB offers a cool little regulator that is controlled by an app on your phone. I like that it’s easy to adjust the pressure and can also be used to deflate your tires…but the fact that it’s all electronic has me somewhat hesitant. Though it sounds like you can override the regulator manually if your phone is dead/broken/lost which I like.

Thanks for the write up El Barto, I just ordered the switch pro setup, the SDHQ bezel and an ARB dual compressor. I'll probably get the under hood mount from NH Overland too.

I’ve been following a few of the ARB threads and finally pulled the trigger on a single. I’m going to be mounting under the rear drivers side seat like you did, I think this is the best option.

Anyway you could post what you bought as far as specific fittings for the bulk head and push connects and any pictures of where you routed your air lines? Any other info you could provide would be awesome.

Thanks!

How is the heat issue mounting it under the seat. My ARB gets so hot it melts the air hoses and electrical lines if you use it extendedly. I had one for my other truck and filling up 35" tires finally killed it. It melted the power wires.

I've seen several other guys mount them inside their truck... I never could understand how the heat didn't effect them.

Buy the ARB and mount it under the bed of the truck

I was coming on to ask the same thing about mounting under the rear seats. I have a single pump ARB on my TJ and I need extra thick gloves to disconnect the airline. If I try with my bare hands I'll 100% burn myself.

I was wondering this too. My twin compressor on the JL goes into thermal protection after filling 6 or 7 tires (37's) from 15 to 30. That's a lot of heat. It's probably fine in the cabin, but make sure there is nothing flammable nearby. And give it breaks to cool down

I saw a guy on my Raptor Forum that mounted the ARB under the seats, melted the carpet... even my Vivair (sp) geta so hot going from 25psi to 38 with 4 tires that I leave leather gloves in my truck!

I was worried about my portable twin overheating. The enclosure is very tight. It gets hot but does ok. I wouldn't want any installation with less venting though.

Are you guys running the air compressor with the engine running? I had a similar heating issue with my Viair and Viair told me i should be running the engine so it can help keep a constant supply of 12v to the compressor. Said when the battery starts to run weak, the compressor struggles and creates more heat. Now i kept the motor running and it still gets pretty hot but no longer melting everything.

Alright so I decided to mount mine in the engine bay. The fear of melting carpet or causing a fire in the back of my mind bugged me too much. I fab’d up a bracket out of aluminum that so far has worked very well. I have a connection in the front bumper and the right side of my bed. I need to remake the front bracket to bring the connection lower and more forward.

Let me know if you guys want any other pics or info.

Looks good. I wish I could have put my dual in the engine bay, but the CTD has a battery in that spot. I think NH Overland makes a nice bracket for the gas trucks too.

Any of you guys with the ARB and the Switch Pros use the Switch Pros quick connect harness for the ARB? I've got one coming with all of my SDHQ stuff and was wondering how it fit into to everything. I also plan to pair down the ARB wire harness as I don't need the lockers either.
