Always on Camera Solution - NAViKS

Ha Ha. I've guess I've never seen so much extreme caution, worry, posturing for discount, etc. on a $375 component. It follows that there will also be extreme "buyers remorse" if everything doesn't go perfectly on this first install.

When you bought your truck, think about the price tag and how many things are missing or working less than optimally and you still love it...

This is a very complicated and innovative solution to an issue that nearly everyone that tows anything has complained about. It might not work perfectly on first blush.

Instead of a company fronting black-box imported solutions they know nothing about below the surface (backup camera companies, come to mind) it sounds like NAVIKS is interested and capable of modifying/refining theirs.

To get these same capabilities on my '18 GMC Denali 3500, I had to pay plenty more for their Intelihaul option - and was happy to do it in return for the capabilities.

At some point, companies like NAVIKS have to make some money and receive enough working capital to survive. So far, they sound more like a Nichols-type of company to do business with...

The fact that they're working with @RBarrett on refining their product is pretty encouraging.

To be honest, group buy or not, I would still wait for feedback from a real user. Somehow I'm not fully convinced this thing works that great. If it add 2 nice features but bring 10 collateral not so fun side-effects, I'm not a buyer, at any price...

They could have started at $500. With a group discount to $375, that would have been a great deal. Plus remove another $25 for Rich and that would be a killer deal! /s

I'm also interested in the group buy.

I have the 12" screen and very close to finishing the install of the surround camera system. If I'm unsuccessful at installing the surround view camera system then I'll opt out.. but it's looking promising thus far.

I did a quick tally and there are 11 confirmed (including me) and one confirmed (only if it works with the two Aux cameras (MikeXM)) plus one more that will buy if it works on an 8.4" (which they stated they weren't sure and would most likely need testing).

Even if I end up opting out, you'll still have at least ten and should be good for the discount.
If anyone identified below has changed their mind please advise.

Can't wait to hear how it goes Rbarrett and thanks for all your efforts!

Just saying, not arguing, sounds like were getting to a larger number in our group buy, maybe a better deal. Hmmmmmmmm. I'm just harassing I know. I'm also waiting to see what the feedback is from @RBarrett and what naviks plans on fixing per his recommendations.

you guys can take me off the list, I just put in a order for the 375 unit... will let ya know how it turns out....

Well before you guys jump in I'll let you know that there are differences in the software for the 2020 two camera system trucks and what Naviks says they have developed for the 2019s. This is what I have in my truck right now. They have been given a summary of problems I have encountered and that is the starting point for changes that are needed and we will be working on next week. I hope zhauler has a earlier truck or I expect he will have issues that naviks is already aware of. I have avoided posting the current status of the software in my 2020 because it is not the final product I expect to recieve and naviks is pretty sure we can resolve the most serious issues I have encountered. I will say however that the main camera in motion portion of the software looks pretty darn solid. I will also tell you that the use of the cameras in motion on my truck doesn't seem to affect the navigation in any way other than to occupy the main screen. The voice and Guage cluster portion are unaffected as far as I have seen. Naviks hoped to get through our testing and modifications before dealing with the group that I have let them know are here and interested in buying this product. If you just can't wait then by all means go for it but you may have issues that a short wait will avoid.

Did it switch to side camera when you used the blinker as advertised?

That is one of the problems and does not currently work correctly but they feel confident can be fixed. They need hands on my truck and some time to fix it

Also would like to add, i hope that in the very least, naviks gives you this thing for free as it would be a bit of a flop with out you taking your personal time to make there product and our experience better. Thanks RB

Thanks again for all the effort and due diligence @RBarrett and I look forward to Naviks resolving all issues.

Did they capture some data from your truck?

Also, was there any optimism about putting video on a split screen or do they think we're stuck with the climate controls always showing (on the 12").

Any insight as to the likelihood this will work with 2021 12" head units if 2020 is ironed out? This assumed no Uconnect hardware changes for 2021, of course (which seems the case).

Well all I can say about that is a 2020 model is probably more like the 2021 than a 19 would be. But like my 20 vs the 19 until one is hooked up and tried who knows. We need it working well on the 20 first. So far as I am still in NH and Naviks has only seen issues via video they have not actually seen any of my truck first hand. I leave tomorrow to start making my way towards our meeting location in PA. I will get more time with the unit in the next few days. As for the split screen they seem pretty sure that is unlikely to be achieved. I was not suprised to hear that but again they have not had hands on yet. More to come.

As others have said, thank you for your efforts here. It's rare to see a company working so hard for customers, and glad you worked something out with them.

No truck quite yet, though when it shows up would be willing to beta/qc for a 2021 12".

yeah right now my main focus is being able to watch my cargo.... any future features would be a bonus for me...

as long as I can leave cargo/backup ill be happy

What is the process for updates? If that is even a possibility?
