Alfaobd Hill Descent.

Any chance you can dig up a Diesel with manual case?

Or is that switch on the radio panel?
You got me on that one. I don’t know where the switch would be in that situation, and I can’t find one optioned like that on autotrader or anything like that to see. It’s definitely possible to configure a CTD 2500 with the off road package and manual t case (at least on the build site), so it should be possible. On the parts catalogs, there’s only two available transfer case switches for the 6.7- with or without. There’s only one cubby part number for that location with the manual t case. There’s no lower switch banks that have sales code BHN in the description, or radio bezel (AC/Heater controls) that have that sales code either. The only thing I can think is if it’s in the radio settings or EVIC settings, with ECU 3: Hill descent switch present not being set, or something along those lines. If that’s the case, and can be confirmed somehow, a dedicated switch for the feature might not be needed to get hill descent control to work?

Thanks for checking, I just wanted to add it to the other sticky if available.

FYI, I checked again today and mine still flashes the gear selector message almost too quickly to see then immediately shows Hill descent Unavailable and the LED is off. If I press it again it does the same thing. 3rd time it stops responding and I have to go to Park and back to N or D. I tried it in N and let off the brake, nothing. D and off the brake, nothing. Tried it with and without the exhaust brake too. I did learn something that's probably in the manual or I've since forgotten, 4th gear is the highest it will go in 4-Low.

If it truly needs a steeper grade, the streets around my house must not be steep enough.

I just tried to build a '21 2500 with the Cummins and off road package and it automatically includes the Electronic transfer case.

Not that I trust the build site, but you can build it like this:
2021 > tradesman crew cab 4x4 > CTD > off road package > snow chief group (chosen with one of the options required for off road package)

I checked hill descent this past week on a 20+ degree boat ramp* and it didn't work.

:(

* I should have checked the pitch angle with the phone but didn't think of it at the time. Ramp is not one normally used for most launches and was the only ramp open due to low water.

Pic for reference. This Dufus dropped the trailer off the ball on the ramp.

ETA: No we didn't offer to help. It may not be evident in the photo, but there were 3 of them and they got it reattached after blocking the wheels. Lucky for them, they had the safety chains on.

Yo Chester!

Try this....68368375AF. I was looking to put that shifter in my 2019 and was told that it won't work because it is for a 2021. This is the vin# that I used and should work for you. 3C6UR5CJ4MG543966.

Oh yeah and by the way , that shifter you are looking for costs around $250.00
Stupid Question on the 68368375AF ... There are 4 different ones pictured ... The #4 has the front, rear and unlock axels options ... Anyone know, or can link to a post for adding the OEM axel lockers? I have a 19 Big Horn with an open diff that I was looking at swapping an LSD into, but this may be something fun to do just because but I cant seem to find anything on my search attempts

You would need a whole wiring harness swap to even have a hope of getting that to work.

Yeah i think that a LSD is just easier route than trying to get power wagon lockers. I know lots of people have said it, but its a shame they dont make things more customizable on these trucks. I dont get why they push to order it that way instead of being like a computer where you can plug and play (mopar components into a mopar).

Ah well I guess

I wish that they were more like Ford in the rear locker respect.... Ford tosses electronic locking rear differentials around like candy to children. Ram acts like a locker is some higher power only deemed available in the PW/TRX world. You have to look to find an F-150 that doesn't have a pull to lock 4x4 button.

If I were president, locking rears and LSD fronts in all full size trucks would be the first executive action I would sign.

Could not find this anywhere. So I took a chance today in alfaobd and had success. So I thought I'd post it here.

I have an Alfa OBD II MX+. Is there anything else that I need to program my truck? I am wanting to add the hill descent control switch on my truck.
Thanks

Did you need the 4 digit pin to add Hill Descent Control?

Roger that.

Just checking because it doesn't work on my 3500.
So I finally had a chance to test mine and I think it worked? I put the truck in 4 low and pressed the button and the truck held 1 mph but nothing came up on the evic... I also went brain dead when I tried to set the speed. I kept trying to use the cruise control and I remembered that to set it in my wife's jeep you set it with the gear selection.

Did the button stay lit?

Can you check again if you get a chance and check if you can control the speed?

No it did not, that was the other part that had me confused. I am going to attempt to use it when I can but there aren't many hills by me steep enough to test it.

Mine flashes the button LED, dash display about speed selection, then "not available," almost too rapidly to see. The LED is off. Second press does the same. Third and subsequent press nothing at all. Have to restart the truck to reset it.

Mine will say it isn't available and stay there for a few seconds if I try to use it not on a hill.
