AEV front diff cover install

Every time I have called this number I have gotten thru.. 248-926-0256 I have always had better luck calling any company vs emailing.

Don’t feel bad I emailed warn in November about a $2200 winch that was broken in the (undamaged)box despite having a 6” yellow tag on it saying “inspected” and they finally emailed me back last Wednesday asking me if someone had responded yet and telling me I should call to get a resolution. I’m a wheeler I can fix a dang winch but y'all have pissed me off now

They got back to me and don't want customers tapping the threads on their own. They want to RMA and have provided me with a return label to get me a new cover. They are still confirming if it's a manufacturing issue.
If any of you want to refer to my case with AEV it's Case # 7258. I would keep my cover, but I'm just worried about that drain plug getting hit since it sticks out so far.

They have notified their engineering department regarding the brake line bracket for the rear cover and closed that case. Case #7270.

I've asked them for a discount on their new front skid plate that works to protect the sway bar disconnect motor on our PWs.

They offered me free shipping on the ProCal SNAP haha. That's like $5 for all my troubles. These were my first AEV products and my last.
I would post here and let them know your dissatisfaction.

That's kinda crap. I responded to the ? With more details, no response, 3 days I think. Yea think this will be my only purchase, simple information, what tap size. Since it's already installed.

post on their facebook page your dissatisfaction otherwise nobody ever knows.

Bummer. Hate it for you guys. Y’all have confirmed this is a real issue? They took care of you by replacing it, right?
AEV stuff and AEV guys have been awesome to me.

I don't have any social media. They may give me more attention there because it's more public, but that shouldn't be needed. I did give them a link to this forum post in my first message to them. I'm done with AEV.

Yes, confirmed. They are replacing my front cover with a RMA after I sent them pictures of the issue. I already shipped the old one out. I have a bad feeling they will take forever to ship me the new one. Luckily my cover was never installed.

So got a reaponse:

Did you notice a heavy amount of coating/paint in the threads before trying to insert the plug? It's a 3/9 NPT (pipe thread) plug but if it's tight you may try using a brush to clean the threads out a bit, due to manufacturing processes it is unavoidable to have some slight overspray into the threads.

I asked to clarify, but it seems to be a 3/8 " not. Gonna chase/tap for a bit deeper.

I almost put a brass brush on my drill to clean it out. New cover should be here today it looks like.

New cover came in. It sill binds pretty early on the threads, but I was able to work it back and forth easier and now only about the last 3 threads are sticking out.

I'll use one of my brass bore brushes in there with a drill to try and strip the threads of the coating so I can get the plug flush. If not, it's workable the way it is I think.
