I wish those covers fit my truck. I’m admittedly an AEV fan boiNo, just opened up a support ticket on their website.
I think they might have coated the threads with some overspray when they coated the cover. I'm slowly able to "clean" the threads with some oil and working the plug back and forth with minimal force. The plug is now able to go in about halfway. Which is way better than the 2-3 thread engagement I was getting before.
Either way all the bolts are getting some blue Loctite on them.
well the front one will fitI wish those covers fit my truck. I’m admittedly an AEV fan boi
Hmm that’s good to know. I didn’t realize that. The front one is more likely to take a hit.well the front one will fitso you are half way there.
I agree, always forwarded never back lol.Hmm that’s good to know. I didn’t realize that. The front one is more likely to take a hit.
most of the time! Lol. Usually harder hits in forward direction, easier to get complacent. Backing up usually paying more attention.I agree, always forwarded never back lol.
Keeping the old one? Dibs if you sell. LolAEV responded to my ticket. They would rather replace the cover than give me the thread pitch for a tap so I sent them my proof of order. I'll keep you guys updated. Luckily I didn't already install my covers.
@jadmt You have the same issue, correct?

Its not 1/8” npt?
Probably a 1/8” npt tap on the shelf in the plumbing dept (if that’s what it is)Possibly, if AEV has a good cover in stock I will just swap it out since I don't have the cover actually installed yet.
If installed already I would probably just take the drain plug to home depot, during my next diff fluid change, to verify the thread pitch then tap it myself. Would be easy since the cover has some good threads to start the tap and keep it straight. I have a few taps in the garage, but would probably have to order the correct one for the cover. If so, the truck would be down for a few days.
yes extremely tight and while was able to get it out and back in I am not sure it will come back out without stripping it.AEV responded to my ticket. yes on mine the bracket needed a little touch up as the bracket is slightly different on the new PWsGot the bracket to fit. It's not pretty but it's solid. Hard to dremel in that tight spot and I didn't feel like pulling apart the brake lines to remove the bracket.
I ended up spraying bracket black after I took the pic.
