I would post here and let them know your dissatisfaction. They offered me free shipping on the ProCal SNAP haha. That's like $5 for all my troubles. These were my first AEV products and my last.
That's kinda crap. I responded to the ? With more details, no response, 3 days I think. Yea think this will be my only purchase, simple information, what tap size. Bummer. Hate it for you guys. Y’all have confirmed this is a real issue? They took care of you by replacing it, right?
AEV stuff and AEV guys have been awesome to me.
So got a reaponse:
Did you notice a heavy amount of coating/paint in the threads before trying to insert the plug? It's a 3/9 NPT (pipe thread) plug but if it's tight you may try using a brush to clean the threads out a bit, due to manufacturing processes it is unavoidable to have some slight overspray into the threads.
I asked to clarify, but it seems to be a 3/8 " not. Gonna chase/tap for a bit deeper.
I almost put a brass brush on my drill to clean it out. New cover should be here today it looks like.
Any updates?New cover came in. It sill binds pretty early on the threads, but I was able to work it back and forth easier and now only about the last 3 threads are sticking out.
I'll use one of my brass bore brushes in there with a drill to try and strip the threads of the coating so I can get the plug flush. If not, it's workable the way it is I think.
