2022 Aisin Failure Tracking Sheet

Did the recall cover the repair?
Not 100% of it. They charged him $750 for the first failure. The second truck hasn’t been repaired yet. It’s not technically a recall (yet). “Customer Satisfaction Notice” is what Ram is currently calling it. It should be a full blown safety recall by now, and that might be the result of the NHTSA investigation that is currently ongoing.

Has this issue been found on MY24 trucks?
I am not the authority on this, but, in the reading I have done No, not in 24 trucks. If you got back to the first page of this thread you can see the build date of all the trucks compiled here.

The tracking sheet is up and running. Please share. If you are on the list, please make sure your data is correct. If not, I can update. Also, if someone is not on there and would like to contribute I can add. Public has viewing and commenting rights only. Thanks!

I would be happy to. Just need all of the following info for the spreadsheet:

1. Date you ordered the truck (if applicable)

2. Date of manufacture (See sticker on driver door for "date of manufacture (Build date))

3. Date you purchased the truck

4. Mileage on odometer at the time of failure

5. Serial Number of failed transmission (see blue stamped metal tag on side of the transmission. It will be something like "2H-2345"

6. Serial Number of replacement transmission (if applicable)

7. Were you towing at the time of failure?

8. Did 1st through 4th gear work?

9. Did reverse work?

10. What date did the transmission fail?

11. When was the truck returned to you after repair?

12. Did your dealer replace the transmission with a new unit or was the failed transmission repaired with parts?

13 Was / Is the truck currently identified under Customer Satisfaction Notification 71A?

Picked up repaired truck on 10/26/2024. The trans was rebuilt, not replaced. I feel OK with that. Not sure I'd trust a replacement. So far runs great. I have 16k more miles and 12 months left on warranty. Time on my side if any issues.

Glad to hear it was taken care of. The repair process is fine so long as the technician is thorough. Would you be able to get me your transmission serial number at some point ?

Question: Has anyone received a reimbursement for expenses forfeited?

1. I have $418.00 tow bill as I elected to get towed appx 50 miles from 1st tow/drop by Stellantis. The first tow went to a dealer who stated they couldn't work on a 3500 diesel truck. (too big)
2. I have appx 500.00 in lost campground reservations
3. This breakdown occurred in the beginning hours of a 2 week work/vacation. My wife missed a conference I missed 5 rounds of golf.
I feel burned by the whole experience. A thousand dollars won't change my life but my memory is long. My next camper tow vehicle will probably be a Ford.

We sat on the side of the road for 4 hours because the Ram tow deal kept denying us before they would show up since we were towing. We ended up getting a tow for our truck and camper ourselves. They dropped the camper at near by campground (we were living in it at the time) and took the truck to the closest dealer. I turned in the entire tow roughly $700 they reimbursed it. They then agree to reimburse a rental for us but not big enough for our camper. Ended up getting roughly 45 days of rental reimbursed(would have to check tracking sheet to know total). Plus the 3 or 4 night at the campground since we were stuck there until we could line up transportation for our camper.

I broke down 300 miles from home towing a camper. I was reimbursed exactly nothing, for the storage of the camper when I had no truck to move it. The rental I had to get to move my trailer home, fuel tolls etc Nothing! The only thing they said they would pay for was the tow, but I didn't need a tow because I limped the truck to a dealer right up the street from where I was. Ram Cares is farmed out overseas to people that barely speak English and are the most useless group of people on the planet. Terrible and expensive incident. This is why I have a new truck but apparently it doesn't matter

Once I had a case I would have to email into my rep at ram cares then they would call me and email in return. It seemed like US based office. Were easy to talked too. Did you try and message Ram cares on this forum and do you have a case number? If you've never been given a case number you won't get anywhere.

I haven't read thru all these comments but our transfer case had to be replaced when the transmission went out, is that a common occurrence?

Thinking back, there were a few cases where owners thought they experienced a K1 snap ring failure, only to find out after diagnosis that it was in fact a transfer case failure instead. Is it possible this might be your situation?

They told me the transfer case was replaced and the tranny repaired. When it went out it acted like it just shifted into neutral, no mechanical noise at all.

Hmm that’s interesting. A K1 failure and a T-case failure could both have the same effects and characteristics in that regard. Did reverse work when your truck failed?

No reverse, dead in the water, if I would have had reverse, i would have backed the 60 miles to the dealership instead of waiting 6 hours for towing, LOL

How do these transmissions act when they're cold? Was in the 20s out the other morning when I took mine out. First time I've driven it that "cold" of temps seemed like it wanted to hold the gears longer to 2k and shifted much softer. Cold for SC where I live now, not cold like where I was raised in CT. I never had an auto diesel in CT and wouldn't have one now if they offered a 5g with a G56...
