2022 Aisin Failure Tracking Sheet

Correct, the dealer ordered the parts proactively, the parts have not arrived. Truck is operating normally currently.
Since your truck was identified under 71A I would like to include it in the spreadsheet if you’re willing to share some info on it

5 weeks later dealer says truck is ready, I’m waiting an hour and a half before they come tell me the check engine light is on and throwing multiple codes.

So definitely didn’t get it back then right? Let me know. I’m trying to keep the spreadsheet up to date and accurate as possible

Well, I decided to fix the problem a different route. I traded it for a 2024. Gained the factory air ride.

We are in a situation with a very long trip planned this summer. Did not want to take a chance on the transmission going out.

Can’t blame you at all.
Wish I had gotten your info before you traded it in, but very happy you moved on from that mess.

***Aisin K1 Snap Ring***

If you experienced a K1 snap ring failure on your Aisin-equipped truck, PLEASE take five minutes and file a report to the NHTSA. They are in the initial stages of a significant investigation into this issue, and need to see reports and information from owners who experienced it first hand. You may also file a report if you have a concern that your truck may be affected by this issue, it need not have failed. You can file a report using this link:

There are roughly 360 trucks on my spreadsheet currently. If each owner took the time to file a report, that would be of significant help to the investigation.
If you have any specific questions about this, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via private message. Also, if you are currently on my spreadsheet and have not updated me with your trucks status, please do so ASAP!

7 weeks now and service says tech and engineers saying a new transmission is needed. I have a case manager and case number with US Customer Care (Ramcare?) I did complete the NHTSA.

Hi all,

I stumbled upon this thread last night and just wanted to say thanks to the community for all effort to put together a resource like this- just amazing! I've got a Jan 22 build date on my 3500 and just shy of 10k miles with no trouble (knock on wood.)
Finally got my serial number for the sheet. Over 12k now and stiil good.

Your transmission did not fail correct?

That transmission Built November 2021.
December

Edited: Thanks @AH64ID for catching my miscount. Note to self: no serial number calculations until I’ve had my third cup of coffee :D

The tracking sheet is up and running. Please share. If you are on the list, please make sure your data is correct. If not, I can update. Also, if someone is not on there and would like to contribute I can add. Public has viewing and commenting rights only. Thanks!

Link to the sheet:

Will do.

Did you file a report with the NHTSA?

Two more questions:

1. What is your transmission serial number?

2. Did you receive a notice in the mail, or check online, that your truck was identified as under the customer satisfaction notice 71A for snap ring failure?

Serial number: 2F-3612 Also I went to my dealer 6 months ago when I heard about these failures. I gave them my VIN and they said there was no recall or anything my truck needed. I thought I was outside of the the known failure. But I have the repair order and it was the K1 clutch snap ring failure for sure. I never received and mailing and the website doesn't show anything other than a recall for emissions

That’s not uncommon unfortunately. I have added about 20 trucks to the spreadsheet in the last month or two that were confirmed K1 failures, but none of them were identified as affected under CSN 71A. Rams own official document says approximately 5,440 trucks were affected but I suspect that number may be much higher.

Thanks for doing this. I cant believe that this problem can be so widespread but RAM is ignoring it. I was literally stuck on the side of I95 in virginia. I was able to get it rolling down the highway and coasted into the closest RAM Dealership but it was 2PM on a Saturday so I was basically stranded there with a 5th wheel attached. Whitten Brothers of Ashland Virginia were spectacular!! Ordered parts and had the repair complete in 8 business days.

Line 365, 4k miles since recall performed no issues. No crazy towing either yet just a 2000 mile round trip 3k enclosed with the Harley.

For those following along:

I just had two K1 failures reported to me by the same owner. Two trucks, one with 111,000 miles and the other with 100,800 miles. Trucks were ordered at the same time and failed just shy of a month apart. One has already been fixed, since it failed last month. The other truck failed yesterday evening. These are by far the highest mileage k1 failures I’ve documented to date.

Dammit and I thought I was in the clear at 40k

Did the recall cover the repair?
