2022 Aisin Failure Tracking Sheet

He entered my name (the dealer I purchased the truck from) and he said "yep 71A" said my truck was part of the recall...
I have 15,600 on the truck now, build date of 9\22 and a Aisin VIN 2H-4354 so I'm smack dab in the middle of the failed units you have been tracking....
I've been worrying to death about this as we're leaving on a 2 month trip pulling a 44' 22,000 fifth wheel on October 5th, of course I've been trying to get dealers to look at it for 6 months but you know that story.....

Well thankfully it hasn’t failed yet, and hopefully it won’t. Now the trick is, can they get the parts in fast enough. Based on what I read of the recall info shared with me, they’ll only replace the snap ring itself in your truck (if it doesn’t fail prior to you getting it to the dealer). Figure it’s a two to three day job at most if everything goes smoothly.

I just noticed that in the Mopar website in the login screen, there is a recall section. But if you look closely at the upper tab, it has a "Customer Satisfaction Notices" tab. This tab would be the place to look instead of just the recall only. Not sure how real time accurate or updated this is, but something that I saw. I didn't see a tab like this on the app itself.

I just looked up the recalls on my truck, and there is a tab for the CSN, as mentioned above. My truck is included in the 71A CSN. Built in August of 22. 8,350 miles and no problem to this point. Hopefully they get to it before I do have problems.

Any chance you can post a screen shot of what that looks like?

This is getting interesting for sure. I don't think they sell/sold very many Aisin trucks. There is no definitive breakdown shown, but you can find random GM Medium duty 4500, 5500. 6500 sales figures and they are pretty low. I'm guessing most of the Rams sold are the 1500, 2500 series, and doesn't some of the 3500's have an option of non Aisin transmissions? I'm only guessing and throwing out random stuff. Just trying to get myself to feel better about my truck and hoping Stellantis has this actually figured out. Your spreadsheet would would even be more helpful if all the owner's could provide you with full details which surprisingly they leave out pieces. Appreciate what you put together as it's helpful to see somewhat of a pattern.

Only the 3500 HO trucks and CC have an AISIN (AS69RC).

I believe this also affects the CC Hemi trucks with the AS66RC (an option).

All the SO trucks are 68RFE.

Well that su$ks for us that has the ho I’m new to ram been a power stroke guy till I could not get one. But my brother has a 94 duelly Cummins but they say it’s a ford Cummins don’t know but 9056700 miles 5 clutches 3 turbos but it’s a freaking beast all the power is there. I’m regretting my purchase cause all my strokers are programabler . I can’t stand that ram locked out the hevavy crap under the frame. My 2009 f250 lost some sh$t on the exst of you know what I mean. And has been the most dependable truck I have had. Gave it to my son now going to Lincoln tech in Denver to do diesel mechanic and miss the dependability. I hope ram can can prove me wrong. Love the torque i this truck for my toy huleer

My truck built on 8/26/2022, but transmission S/N is 2E-ish, checked Mopar.com, only particulate sensor CSN shows up, not sure Aisin also has multiple plants, and problematic snap ring randomly spread to the lines, I guess RAM should know each truck's BOM which easily map to impacted transmission.

got my truck back again after dropping off this morning after i complained about the transfer case leaking and the clunking on accelerating too which they have responded with “we couldnt find the leak after cleaning and the clunk issue is to be expected because the transmission is still learning” … LOL are they serious? ive got just shy of 4000kms now and it went in originally with 1100kms. which is to say that i have trippled the miles on the replacement transmission vs what the original had (which only clunked the one time before failure)

i did ask for giggles how long the learning could take he couldnt give me an answer.

idk am i the delusional one? i do understand its no tesla and you will have a more aggressive shift in a 1 ton but i mean it really punches you if you arent ON it in the low gears (1-3) and also the main concern is the clunk i get at low speeds on acceleration it feels like there is a fair bit of play in the drivetrain which is causing the clunk as far as i can tell

I called the dealer last week where I purchased my 22 3500 DRW 2 1\2 hours away in Pittsburgh, PA and made an appointment as per the 71A "recall", went up there this morning and it was a complete wasted trip, they didn't even have a lift they could get my Dually on and of coarse no parts in stock.
On the way back home I called my little local dealer and they ordered the needed parts kit for the K1 replacement, they will get me in as soon as the parts arrive, hopefully the parts kit is available I hope it doesn't take too long to come it, I'm leaving Oct. 5th for 2 months to Wyoming, Utah, and Arizona pulling a 24,000 lb fifth wheel toy hauler, I wish RAM had come out with this CSN \ Recall sooner, I have been trying to get several dealers to look at it for months but of course all I got was the "we can't do anything unless it fails" story.
Truck built 9\22 and currently has 16,500 miles and no issues so far other than the "clunky" transmission which appears to be the nature of the beast.
I'll update when parts arrive and I can get in in.... (dealer today also confirmed I don't have the PM sensor, and still need the grid heater but of course they didn't have those parts either...)

First - that whole ordeal sucks, sorry you went through that.
Lastly - keep us posted on the loan payment part (I don't have a lien on mine but wasn't aware that was a possibility for a vehicle that's in for warranty work for longer than 30 days)

I'm gonna be paranoid everytime I tow with this truck - so far, no issues (2022 3500 DRW CHO, took delivery in July last year).
we haven't received the check yet, but we were approved for 2 months worth of loan payments. the check was mailed last week. However, we just took our truck on a road trip and we made it to our destination and clear back home again this past Sunday. when backing the truck into our shop, the transmission failed again. we had it towed this morning to our local dodge dealership and will be either starting a new RAM care case or continuing this first one. this has been so unfortunate. the truck is a beautiful hunk of junk.

Thank you for the update I really appreciate it. I will mark your truck as back in service.

Could you please let me know your trucks date of manufacture? It’ll be on the white sticker on the driver door. Thanks!
hi, sorry so slow on this. the date of manufacture is 10-22. our story doesn't end unfortunately. we got our pickup back and just took it on another trip. thankfully we made it clear home and as we were backing it into the shop, the transmission failed again. the pickup has been towed today to our local dodge dealership. big sigh.

the second failure happened at 3267 miles.

I appreciate the information. I’m sorry to hear that it failed again. Please keep me updated on this. I’m going to revert your repaired status to unrepaired and record the second mileage failure.
If you can, I would highly recommend getting the serial number off the side of the transmission case. That way you know the original transmission serial in the event you’re “promised a new transmission”. Let me know what that serial number is if you get it!

Based on the documentation I read on the 71A CSN, if your truck is driving and running fine, they are only to replace the snap ring itself now. Nothing else. That’s changed from the previous RRT / RSU. I’m not sure if there’s a different ordering process for that or not.

Yeah, I believe the parts consist of the snap ring and various seals to replace the ones during the tear down to get to the clutch pack.

Has anyone on here actually had an operating transmission tore down yet to have the snp ring replaced?

The transmission went out on my 2022 Ram 3500 700 miles from home 9/9/23 I contacted Ram customer Service on 9/11/23 it is now 9/18 and I have not heard back from my case manager. The dealer said he ordered parts to repair it. NO ETA as of yet. No loaner vehicle. Meanwhile my trailer is stranded 100 miles from the dealer. 8500 miles on the only vehicle I ever bought brand new.

I’m sorry to hear that. I can add your truck to the spreadsheet. Ram recently upgraded their response to this problem. It’s now a customer satisfaction campaign. I would hope they can get you the parts and get you moving much sooner than previously.

Do you have or know your trucks date of manufacture?
