2022 Aisin Failure Tracking Sheet

so
I would take not being on the recall as a good thing. I have a may build with a 2D transmission, so I’m hopeful I’m not included as well.
so this campaign officially launched? and right now only checkable in dealer's system? If so, they may still use VIN to flag impacted truck

Mine shows on the ram app. That’s how I found out mine had the recall

Thanks! Good to know it will show up in the app. Just logged in my mopar account, so far only relay and sensor recalls there, will keep checking for a while, if nothing changed, I may have more confidence my truck is out of the CSN scope, definitely i take it as a good thing, even they have such a detailed and proven process to change snap ring, still prefer to not touch the tranny if not necessary.

What is your truck build date? I'm wondering if this is for June 2022-December 2022 built trucks. Seems most of the spreadsheet were in those timelines with a couple of randoms out of that pack.

what I understand from CSN is that they may not really care about VIN now, for any HO & CC Aisin truck built during that timeframe will be covered by CSN. They may already weighed out the total cost (part & labor) on all these 5440 trucks may still less than the process cost to pin out exact VIN list. And if they don't take any action on sold trucks, just let some to fail on the road, the repair, reimbursement cost may still keep increasing and eventually more than current CSN would cost.
If they’re going by timeframe alone, I’d say they’re going to miss a bunch of trucks. 5,440 trucks wouldn’t even come close based on the data I’ve collected. The number of build months affected is to spread out for a time period based recall. I’m guessing they have been able to pinpoint trucks based on transmission serial number.

It was in late August

This is getting interesting for sure. I don't think they sell/sold very many Aisin trucks. There is no definitive breakdown shown, but you can find random GM Medium duty 4500, 5500. 6500 sales figures and they are pretty low. I'm guessing most of the Rams sold are the 1500, 2500 series, and doesn't some of the 3500's have an option of non Aisin transmissions? I'm only guessing and throwing out random stuff. Just trying to get myself to feel better about my truck and hoping Stellantis has this actually figured out. Your spreadsheet would would even be more helpful if all the owner's could provide you with full details which surprisingly they leave out pieces. Appreciate what you put together as it's helpful to see somewhat of a pattern.

March 10, 2022 build. Nothing in the app.
Mine is the same build month, and no issues in 26k miles. My friend had the same build month and had his break, twice ‍♂️. I'm not showing any recalls, but I'll have my dealer check.

His snap ring gave out again after the repair?

They replaced the trans once and did the snap ring fix the second time. This was early 2022 when they replaced the trans, so I doubt it had the "fix" done to it. Couldn't tell you how long it lasted after the last fix because he got rid of it and got a 2023

Yep, I plan to check with the dealer tomorrow as well. Although the majority of folks didn't provide their serial numbers, I take minor comfort in the fact that there aren't any 2B transmissions on the list.

Repeat failures aren’t uncommon with this failure. Some of the initial trucks that failed ended up having two or three failures after the truck was returned to the owner. Primarily because Ram was telling the dealer to swap the entire transmission out for a new one. Problem with that was the new replacement transmissions had the same flawed snap ring in them. The TSB-based “repair” method is also susceptible to repetitive failures if the tech doing the work isn’t capable or experienced enough, or doesn’t do a thorough job of diagnosing inspecting and repairing / replacing. If you look at my spreadsheet, trucks that suffered multiple failures are highlighted in orange under the “Mileage at failure” row. You’ll see mileages there that coincide with when the truck failed and how many times.

Nothing in the app for me either with February 22 truck build and a January 22 transmission build.

I don’t have any Feb 22 - built trucks on my spreadsheet. Not to say there aren’t any but I would suspect i would have some by now. I’m missing some build dates for certain trucks, but I would think at lease one of the ones I do have a date for would be Feb 22 if there was an issue then.

I just spoke with the dearer and I am on the list for the transmission snap ring recall, nothing has showed up on the app or my Ram, waiting to hear back on scheduling.
Hopefully it's quick, we're leaving for a 2 month trip on October 5th, I wish this recall came out a few months ago when I was trying to get RAM to look at it.....

When you talk to the dealer again, any chance you could get them to explain specifically where the CSN shows up in their system, or where they “go” to look it up? Or does it automatically generate when they enter the ViN? There was mention of a “global recalls” section. Just trying to narrow down the specifics of this so that when others speak to their dealer service centers, they know precisely where to look. I ran into a similar situation with the initial K1 TSB when the snap rings started to fail. Better than half of the dealerships didn’t even know the TSB was there.
