i thought the 2wds were IFS i mean if you want garbage short arm IFS you could always buy a GM then you would atleast have a truck that matches the suspension complete and utter garbage…. But to the guys saying you NEED 4wds for basic tasks like winter driving and such thats a load of crap 2wds are plenty fine infact i rarely even use my 4wd even when plowing i often do it in 2wd and if its like they used to be they are the ones with the highest towing/payload numbers, for someone who is hauling OTR commercially it would be great

Why everyone is kicking the guy for wanting a 2WD?? I personally wouldn't get a 2WD but each their own...

I have had to pull 4x2s out of their camp spot many times. And sometimes to their camp spot after they get stuck on the way there. LOL In truth, it is more of a desert thing though. But I have sure seen people bitch at their 2WD truck!

Sure but still not everyone is doing that or going to camping spots like that. In fact a 2wd with proper tires can perform better offroad than a 4x4 with stock tires.
A long while ago I installed 28" gorilla silverbacks on my atv, hardly ever needed a 4x4 and my atv is set up for mud bogging. Can go through places in 2wd where others get stuck in 4x4

Not a 4x2 problem but I had a dealer tell me today the SO diesel was NOT an option for her dealer configurator - that I could ONLY order a 6.7L HO. Sales tactic?
I was told the same when ordering my 3500 in Jan. Then was magically able to order the SO after looking at all of their inventory. I believe it's a sales tactic. Make sure you drive both to see what you like! I'm happy with my SO decision but I think I would have been fine either way. My dump trailer is between 4500lbs. Empty Up to 14,500lbs. At any given time of the day. Many say that you don't really feel the HO difference until you are towing, so even a test drive might not tell the whole story. My SO/68rfe does just fine.

Ok but then put those tires on a 4x4 lol

True, but it depends on the terrain. And definitely not better for towing a toy hauler to a camp spot in the boonies. Or running around Glamis or many of the other places we go. We have had some 2WD in our group.

Do what? That’s a good one!
If you think I was joking then you clearly have never done any serious off-roafing. Fact!
A 2x4 with a set of something like Super Swamper tires can do much better in some off-road situations than a 4x4 with highway tires, especially if that 2x4 has a LSD or a locker.
I've been on wet clay roads with 4x4 F-250 with highway tires, felt like slicks on the ice - no traction at all 4x4 or not, I barely made it (sideways and half way in the ditch) through that stretch of the road I've also had a set of studded all terrain tires on one of my other work trucks that were all around good tire in all conditions all year round, hardly ever needed a 4x4 and I worked oilfield in Alberta so I've seen it all, that is besides the years of mud bogging with ATVs.

I have bought RWD trucks as my primary purpose is pulling my fifth wheel. With 4WD I would have to raise my fiver; no easy task with tandem dual wheel suspension. Also with my type of camping RWD is all I need. Warm weather and pavement only. I know there are those that justify 4WD in part by better resale value. True, but on the other hand RWD has lower up front cost, reduced maintenance and better fuel mileage. I would bet the those that have 4WD only use it less than 5 percent of the time. Besides if I get stuck there are always plenty of you four wheelers that want to show off. I carry a big tow strap.

Lmao!! Wet clay roads makes you a “serious” off roader?

This is gold!

Don't cherry pick the words out of my answer. Wet clay roads will not make you a serious offroader and this particular example was to show you that 4x4 will not automatically make your truck unstoppable. The point I'm trying to prove is that a properly equipped 2x4 CAN perform much better in certain situations than the poorly equipped 4x4. Glad you found my posts entertaining

So basically, since you wanna compare.... it's simple... install the same tires on the 2WD and the 4WD!
The 4WD is just better overall except on highway haul/towing where total capacity of the 2WD edges a bit the 4WD. That is *IF* you ever get that close to that limit to even need the 2WD.

Gotcha!

That’s an absurd assumption and no where near true.

But yes… the post is so nonsensical I got a good loud laugh out of it so thanks!

Nowhere did I say the 2wd is better or worse, each has their purpose and people's needs are different. If someone doesn't want a 4wd for whatever reason, equipping a 2wd with a good set of tires is all they need to not get stuck in some certain situations.
Learn to read guys

In my experience, a 4x4 with open/open diffs wheels better than a 2wd with a locker does. I’ve been the guy with 2wd/locker because I’m really good at breaking front driveshafts.

don’t really care to compare tires we could do that all day but it’s a dumb argument to me. sure maybe a 4x4 with bald tires wouldn’t make it as far as a 2wd with boggers and a skinny pedal on the floor

Nothing wrong with 2WD in a climate with no snow and no other need for the 4WD. Your mpg will be slightly better too. My 2022 HD order is 4WD but my 2016 Ram Ecodiesel was 2WD and I never needed 4WD for how i used my 1500 before.
