So I was looking at the new Rams yesterday, after reading of many Ramboxes being misaligned or not seeming to fit properly. Is it just me, or are they now made
of a plastic material? It sure did not seem to be metal like the rest of the truck. Anyone have issues with theirs bending, or worried about durability? Thanks, Mark

They always have been not metal like the rest of the truck.

Some seem to have problems in the extreme heat or cold. People in the middle seem to have no complaints.

On our 5th Gen forum some members have posted how to align them properly yourself.

Plastic on the inside then a painted plastic shell. The plastic shell is simply taped on the inside plastic "hull" of the rambox door. See pic. It's all plastic. Nothing is metal here except bolts and lock assembly.

There are alignment issues, lock issues and plastic shell coming off issues. As noted, not everyone is having problems but the extreme heat states or extreme cold states might have some issues with the assembly.

Overall, I'd still opt for them as they do organize junk very nicely and keep your bed clean and available for other junk. ;)

Can you send the link where to adjust them????

Just took my 3500 to the dealer today for warranty work. Both ramBoxes the painted plastic shell is delaminating from the actual lid. The tech said that Ram has an RST(?) out for the lids right now and its a known issue that they have to inspect on every 19 Ram (1500-3500) with the ramboxes.

I currently have a '19 1500 Limited with the RamBoxes. The driver side shell is coming off and there is a long backorder for parts needed to get it fixed. On the same day I brought my 1500 to the dealer ship to get the RamBox looked at, I ordered a Power Wagon and that is going to make it here before the parts for the 1500. The PowerWagon is not coming with Ramboxes...mainly because I can't fit my ATV in the bed of my truck with the Ramboxes.

I have the same issue with my 2019 RAM 2500. In my case both sides are de-laminating, though it is worse on the passenger side. My dealer has ordered the replacement parts, but 8 weeks later I am still waiting on them. My dealer is telling me that I have to wait on them to get the parts, and then once they have them, probably another 1-2 weeks for them to paint them.

Either way, this is getting pretty disappointing.

If it comes down to it and FCA's fix doesnt work, I will take the lid off the box and epoxy the panel to it. I figure if it ever has to get replaced due to an accident, more than likely the lid and/or whole box will need replaced.

I'm having problems with my 2019 PW drivers side lid. It is very disappointing, had it back once already for this, their fix didn't last a few weeks. They even wrote on the work order if the problem happens again, that the body shop needs to see it. So why they just didn't take it to the body first shop is beyond me. It really is disappointing to drive GM trucks all my life, I'm 60 now, and my first Dodge / RAM I'm already sorry I bought it. The dealer doesn't act to enthused about helping with it. The lid is starting to flap again driving down the road.

That’s the same problem I have. Lift up on the plastic shell, clean out the FCA double sided tape. Clean the area and apply 3m vhb tape. It’s not a permanent fix as the plastic will keep sliding down. I believe the issue is due to misalignment of that shell. The opposite end of the shell is pulling down on the end that is separating. So eventually it will separate.
A new rambox door assembly is about the only solution I can think off but FCA will not just replace without attempting repair first.

Take it in and request a new rambox lid assembly since they already tried the repair. That all I can think off.

The sad thing is one side is great, all the body line gaps are good, everything is tight. The drivers side is terrible. It was fine the day I brought the truck home. And they can replace these parts, but I will not let them paint any of the bed to "blend" the new parts to match. We pay $65,000 for a new truck, and then we have to make concessions on their mistakes. I've worked with the public for most of my life, and I know how to treat customers and people in general. The dealer is already trying to play hot potato with my truck.

Anyone having luck with a long term fix here? Took it to the dealer for several recalls and had them fix mine. Truck was ready yesterday and by the time I picked it up today it was worse than when I brought it in.

I’m having the same issue, sad thing is my truck has been in twice and apparently been repaired. Each time I have the same issue the plastic shell detaches and hangs of the side. I’m really disappointed as the truck besides this is great.

If that was mine, that would make me raging fool every time I had to go to the dealership.
