Looking at the new 324MBS. It's UVW is 10,864 so likely at 12,500 GVWR. Total length is 37.0 feet. Too much for a 2500 with a 6.4 gasser and 4.10 rear end? I know that there is enough power to pull it, but concerned it may not control the weight enough. Current trailer is only 8.5K GVWR and have no experience with this much weight. Anyone have any experience pulling something of that size with the 2500 gasser? Thanks

Currently tow with a 2020 2500 6.4/4.10 with a payload of 3244 (per yellow door sticker). Our camper is a 36 ft, 12.5k 5th wheel with a pin weight of approximately 2300 lbs. I installed airbags just to level things up and stop it from bottoming out on the occasional ridiculous bridge apron. It tows great between SC and FL, or anywhere flat! Pulls like it is not even back there. Typically, 8.5-9 mpg towing.

That being said, I have a 6.7 / 3500 ordered that I hope to see in August. The hemi will get us up and down the rolling hills, but I want to head over the mountains soon :)

Do a search about 2500 diesels and remaining payload...

Have fun!

I pulled a 10,000 pound camper with my 2019 2500 6.4 with 4.10 gears, and it did well. With hills, it definitely did a lot of downshifting. However, unlike as others have stated, I always knew it was back there. Anything 10,000 and up will be noticeably back there with a gas motor. Still, the 6.4 and 8 speed are a very good package!

That will pull it well, you may want bags to level it out a bit but i would not hesitate to pull it as you have about 2k more load rating than the Payload lies indicate (registration weight vs axle capacity ratings)

It'll pull it, but any grade at 4% or greater you'll know you have gasser, when your RPM's will be screaming climbing them. Even though you can't compare the 5.9 Magnum motors from the early 2nd gens to the Hemi's of toady, my 94 2500HD pulled my boat and 27' 5ver just fine, until I pulled up Cajon or Chiriaco pass, then then the RPM's were very high to pull the load up the grade.

You'll love the power/torque pulling any grade, also the Exhaust Brake will save your brakes going down the same grades. I assume its a SRW 3500, and does it have the air leveling setup, and the 5ver puck system ? BTW the Laramie is a good choice, I love my Laramie over the loaded 07 SLT I used to have. I drove (didn't own) a 2014 2500 Tradesman which was OK but the 2019 level 2 Laramie optioned truck with the 12" screen I bought is sweet.

Thanks for all the feedback. I cancelled my 2500 order and found a '22 3500 Laramie with the HO Diesel. That was a lucky find as my searches over the past month had none within 350 miles of me. This one is in transit to the dealer. Gonna miss by Rebel though.
Nice choice!

Yes SRW and 5th wheel prep but no air (has tow tech B, Laramie B, 12'" NAV and Snow Chief). Picked up the B&W companion hitch that will drop into the tow prep pucks.

My 2500 is a 6.7 Cummins 3.73 but a gasser will pull it, mpg will not be as good. Airlift 5000 makes a huge difference. Hills and wind will be an issue. This RV is 15k+ and pin weight 3390, 44 ft. Pulled over 1200 miles MN, SD, WY. While the 2500 does the job, I have a 3500 6.7HO DRW on order.

Yep, that's definitely DRW territory in order to have a "comfortable" tow.

You'll be blown away by the difference when you first tow with the DRW,

I also used to tow a 14k 5er with my 2500 diesel, coil spring Ram. Huge difference with the new truck.

I think most people who are used to towing heavy and large with a SRW (and especially those with 2500s) would be shocked with what they were missing out on if they towed with the DRW for any amount of time.

I towed my Arctic Fox 5ver with a 2004.5 2500 4X4, and a 07 3500 DRW C&C 4X4 as we'll as my current 3500 SRW 4X4. It is more stable with the 3500 DRW, but the 2500 & 3500 SRW pulls it almost as well. It just depends on speed and weather that would defiantly make a difference. I chose my 3500 SRW due to drivability for my DW as well parking.

I agree, but still feel like my 2500 SRW is overkill for what I tow. But it sure is nice to do the speed limit over Raton Pass

I have the previous generation of that trailer the 31MB. I have towed that trailer with my 2019 2500 6.4 with 3.73’s and it towed fine. MPG was around 7 and on some steep grades it wasn’t the fastest thing, but with a Reese goosebox and 3 people in the truck I was all legal when I scaled it.
