I don’t wanna level my truck and I don’t want it to rub. I wanna keep my steelies 18’s. 8 inch wide wheels. I want a wider tire that won’t rub. Anyone run a 295/70/18 on a stock 3500? Any other suggests.
I like the 395/65/18 option but a 8.5 inch wheel is suggested. And not many options with raised white letters which I want.
295/65/18 is a good size but not built.

I had 295/65r20s on my 2014 stock wheels. They will fit the same as those 295/70r18s. They rubbed on the control arm and sway bar. Not enough to notice but it definitely rubbed paint off.

If you want larger, a 285/75r18 is a very good size with great load capacity and may not rub at all.

I hope u mean 285/70/18. Cause 285/75/18 is a 35.1 inch tall tire. The 285/70/18 is a size I looked at but they are a size that’s crazy higher priced

I just looked and the tire u ran does not measure that same as a 295/70r18. It’s also 35.1 295/75r18 measures 34.2x12

I ran a 295/65r20. A 20”wheel. I am suggesting a 285/75r18.

What is wrong with a 35” tall tire? It will fit easily and you will not tell the difference driving.

There is no such animal as a 295/75r18. It would be a 36” tall tire. Where did you see that size?

I am running 285/75r18 Nitto Trail Grappler on stock Steelies. Everything is stock and I have a slight rub at full lock turning left, it is rubbing on the passenger side sway bar. Otherwise, no rubbing.

Ok so you where running a 35x11.6 basically. The 295/70r18 is 34.2x11.6. It might be good

I think you're over thinking this. Any 285 or 295 wide tire that is 34" tall or more will rub the sway bar and/or control arm with the stock wheels. It's not a big deal, you just should be aware of it.

I’m not over thinking anything. I’m trying to find out. That’s why I’m asking. If I find out a 295/70r18 will rub in stock config I will get a 285/65/18
Marshfly you stated in the beginning you used to run a 295/65r20 and they would fit the same as a 295/70r18, unusual statement to make since there 1inch height difference

Earlier you said a 35inch 285 may not rub at all. Now you say any 285 above 34 will rub. A lot of mixed info from you. I prefer to hear from someone that actually ran the size tires I’m looking at

Haha haha.
Whether or not a 285/75r18 rubs is going to depend on the actual tire you choose. Actual size is not consistent between brands. Some run smaller and some run larger. Some have side lugs and some don’t. Trucks are built slightly differently as well. The exact tire you choose may run or not run on different trucks.

Come on man. This isn’t rocket science. Go on Cumminsforum.com and search each of these sizes on 4th gens. They fit exactly the same as the 2019s.

You are looking for a perfect answer. There isn’t one. Every size has trade offs. If you want a perfect fit stay the stock size.

Lucky for you it not rocket science

You’re right. I don’t think it could be explained any simpler.

All this indecision over tires that have size differences of 1/3 an inch...

34.2 vs 35.1 is now 1/3 inch. You should just quit replying and go back to school

It's barely more than 1/3 an inch difference in radius, which is what matters. Dude, you are just looking for a reason to argue. This is dumb. You are literally refusing to accept the advice of people that have been down this road and made these decisions. Have fun being confused.

Alot of your threads are ending up this way @jared43758 .

35x11.5 is the biggest size that will fit no rub. Which is exactly what @Marshfly is telling you...but when speaking in metric sizes there are so many variables.

So 35x11.5 is not a popular size...35x12.5 is but it will rub(unless aftermarket wheels...which is why 35 x 12.5 is popular)

285 and 295 metric will rub...what @Marshfly Said is get the /75 and you will get an even taller tire than the 295/70 and have slightly less rub.

He explained it well...and you originally received it well...but then made a typo.

So, you want the tallest tire with no rub...275/70 won't rub in any manufacture.

285/70 which is what the Powerwagon gets won't rub in that specific Goodyear tire...but other makes will.

285/75 will be the biggest you can get with minimal rub.

And then bam...some one will be able to run a 315 without rub...because this is the internet.

That is what @Marshfly was trying to convey.

Look for something that is close to 35 x 11.5 and expect some minimal rub.

I don’t want anything close to a 35! How hard is that. If I had my way I’d get a 295/65/18 but there’s only 1 a/t made in that size and I don’t want it. I want a tire that measured close as possible to factory 33. But wider.
