"Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 cab chassis built with a Cummins 6.7L High Output engine. Inadequate warmup protection can cause a lack of oil film on the engine connecting rod bearings while the engine is reaching operating temperature. This can result in engine damage and connecting rod failure, which could potentially puncture the engine block."

[mod:] The recall is for Cab & Chassis trucks only which are not HO. FCA must have gotten a typo or something wrong. Thread title also updated. Sorry @Hawk375 but the thread title is causing a bit of a trainwreck and multiple threads started on this W57 recall issue.

Reading the attached documents, this is for C&C trucks, not pickups, and not HO. The C&C Cummins tune is different than pickups.

I'm trying to wrap my head around how Cummins can control oil flow to the the lower connection rod bearings via the ECM?

"Warmup protection" = (more) reduced power modes when cold.

If you look closer, at the correct recall documents for W57, it's clear this is for DD and DP trucks, (DD) 3500 Cab and Chassis and (DP) 4500/5500 Cab and Chassis trucks.

Just called and got the 5500 scheduled. Thanks for the update because I have not received a mailer and this truck is about to get busy traveling several states in our region. We are under 10,000 miles so hopefully nothing is hurt yet.

I was assuming the HO engine in the 3500 pickup truck would be the same as a chassis cab?

I couldn't get the HO in the 5500 chassis cab. If I am correct and thats the 1,000 ft./lbs. torque.
