I ran mine up and put it on the scales with just the boat, no hitch, no gear, then did a reweigh.

I don't feel I got a reliable steer weight so I must have been in a different spot on the pad. I'm having a hard time believing the 400 lb tongue weight on the boat pulled 120 lbs. from the front axle.

Truck: 50 gals fuel - 1/2 tank def - 250 lb driver (hangs head)
Steer: 5380
Drive: 3520
Gross: 8900

With boat
Steer: 5260
Drive: 3940
Trailer: 3240
Gross: 12440

Adding:
Hitch: 168
Toolbox: 160
Genset: 140
Tools, chains, misc estimated 100lbs
Wife (not going there, the internet is forever)

Don't you remember your physics class from high school? 400 lbs 5 ft behind axle could change frt axle that much easily.
My andersen hitch puts ball about 4 in behind ctr of axle, but the adapter on pin moves it back to ctr
and I loose 120 lbs!

Truck empty, no driver, Bed toolbox with 500 lbs in it, 32 gal fuel.
Steer: 5220
Drive: 3460
Total: 8680

Truck and 5th wheel. No water, has genny, some stuff in stg cubby
Steer: 5100
Drive: 6120
Trailer: 8760
Total: 19980 Jeez, 11300 Trailer wt! And I haven't finished loading it up yet!

Truck and both trailers ,W/D hitch set so 5th wheel sits 1/2 in higher hooked up (still adjusting that)
Steer: 5140
Drive: 6040
Trailer: 13160 Not able to split trailer axles
Total: 24340 So sxs trailer is 4360 and 5th wheel axle is 8800, and pin is 2500

So even with rear of 5th wheel sitting higher hooked up to 2nd trailer, 5th wheel axle gains 40 lbs, and rear axle of truck (pin) loses 80 lbs?
And frt axle truck gains 40 lbs. Maybe within tolerance of scales, wind load? who knows.
It's enough to made my brain tired but that doesn't take much anymore.
All I know is it pulls it nicely!

I understand the physics well enough to know there's some weight transfer, but not well enough to do the math. I suppose it's possible but 120 lbs off a 5200 lb axle with a 400 lb load behind the rear axle seems a bit much.

I'll need to also weight my RV without the boat, then when I'm OTR and we stop at our usual fuel stop, I'll catch the whole rig again after fueling up.

I remember not to bother you before noon then

LOL.

Except for sleeping in weekends sometimes, I'm usually up by 0800 or 0900 at the latest. Right now I'm working an east coast project that occasionally has me up for conference calls at 0600 or 0700. I also have a 5 year old grandson I watch 2 days a week (perhaps more often over the next few weeks if daycare closes down like the schools).

Hey I know, let's close down all the schools so all the grandparents can watch all of the children during this epidemic.

I feel for the parents that can't work from home.

While it's a big inconvenience and my work efficiency suffers with him here, at least we have that option, I do travel typically 12-15 times a year - sometimes more, sometimes less - but that's dropping off right now.

So we don't get in trouble for going OT, I'll post an old pic of our tow setup before we got the boat and new trailer.

Your old tow set up is great and I’m sure the memories are great with that!

Where do both of you guys live?

Douglas County, CO (south of Denver)

That pic is a pullout on part of the lead up to Cumbres Pass on Hwy 17 between Antonito, CO and Chama, NM. Elk Creek Valley Overlook

The route we take going to Navajo Reservoir. We go for a week every other (sometimes every) year.
