So I recently picked up my new 2022 Laramie, I like everything so far except the bed rails are sun faded from sitting in a Mexican parking lot for 6 months, and the fact there are no amber parking lights. Much smarter folks from here did show me that’s exactly how it’s supposed to be. The old marker/ signal lens is strictly for turn signal only on models with led lights ( my 2022 Tradesman with incandescent lights has amber front marker lights.) I know the led that wraps around the headlight is as designed but I want to activate the amber parking lights. When removed the light plug has an ground and 2 conductor areas When I supply 12v to each of the contact areas with a ground the bulb lights up in bright ( signal) and the other filament ( park) lights up. The bulb has both filaments like the old 1157 bulbs. Looking into the headlight bucket you can see 3 points of contact for the bulb to operate in both parking and signal capacity . On the headlight connector there is a missing wire could this be the wire for parking lamps in trucks with incandescent lights? When I turn on my light switch to parking lamps I have the amber side light on the headlight housing and the white LED surround and my cab lights illuminate, but there’s no amber showing front facing. What I’m looking to do is activate the amber bulb in the turn signal housing so when the lights are on I’ll have amber in the front. All input greatly appreciated.

have you looked through the AlphaOBD thread? I thought there was an option for turning that on. I have LED lights and tried it and it didn't seem to make a difference or maybe I missed a step, but if you don't have LED's, maybe it will work. I tried looking through my notes for the setting but couldn't find it, but it is in the long AlphaOBD thread

i had not though of that, I looked on the lighting settings on the truck but it only has daylight running lights as on option to change on or off.
my buddy has a reader I’ll try that avenue. I’m an old school mechanic everything was switched 12v to ground.

You can’t do what you want to accomplish via programming or AlfaOBD, you’ll have to physically do it via wiring changes.
The easiest way to do this is get a pair of diode dynamics switchback modules:
S1 Switchback Module Pair Diode Dynamics https://a.co/d/1IGC6vU

You would remove the white/brown wire from the 12-way connector on the driver side, and the white/orange wire from the passenger side, and tie those to the parking light input on the switchback module. You’ll also have to run a resistor across the parking light circuit and ground so you don’t get a bulb out message when you use the turn signals at night.

With that method, the behavior would be as follows:
- The white signature lighting will still function normally during the day when the headlights/park lamps are not in use
- The lower lamp housing where the turn signal is will now function as amber parking lights
- The white upper and lower strips will not be on when the headlights/parking lights are in use
- The amber parking light will drop out when the turn signal is in use (will flash on/off/on/off, instead of bright/brighter/bright/brighter)

If you don’t want to modify any of the factory wiring at all, I can set this all up for you to be plug n play.
