Hearing a grid heater recall coming out this week 2-16-2023. Anyone else hear about this ? Anyone know what they will replace or change ?

[MOD: Updated with info]

DO NOT post about the Grid Heater Bolt Failure in this thread.

Optional thread for bolt ingestion:

Picture of relay cable disconnected from passenger side battery HAPP for those desiring to do so. Keep in mind that you'll need to double press the start button to prevent CEL and it could also still light a CEL if the heater is commanded and the PCM doesn't detect the current draw.

New relay: CSTP13A1AA (dealer only) recall part number. 68606435AB is the relay part number.

Less than two years old and four recalls. If this is legit, maybe five. Great quality control Chrysler!!!!!!

FCA was below the industry average in this study. If you were that concerned you should have bought a Chevy according to this chart.

I had two recalls on my 2003 in almost 20 years I owned it. As far as buying a Chubby. NOPE. Like the Cummins. Just disappointed in the current quality control and dealer experience. And the chart pretty well shows there is an issue. At least I don't have a VW.

Bought a new GMC 1500 back in 1988 and I was taking it under warranty almost monthly, electrical , suspension, trim fitting problems etc.

Had Nissans in the early 2000s and like most Japanese cars they were reliable little tanks but a decade later I bought a new 2013 pathfinder and was bringing that SOB in all the time for recalls or stupid broken stuff Not to mention CVT problems.

Since then I bought a 2017 1500 Big Horn and now my 2021 3500 Limited I’ve have had minimal issues… well so far… I jinxed my ass now I guess.

[MOD: start of other thread merged]

Chrysler-parent Stellantis (STLAM.MI) is recalling 340,000 diesel Ram pickup trucks to replace an electrical connector after reports of six fires, and recommends parking the vehicles outside until repairs are made.

The company's U.S. unit FCA US discovered that a part on some trucks may overheat and in rare instances may pose a fire risk. The automaker said it is unaware of any related injuries or accidents.

The recall covers 340,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups, and 3500/4500/5500 cab chassis trucks from model years 2021-2023 with 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engines. Just over 306,000 of the vehicles are in the United States. Nearly 22,000 of the rest are in Canada and almost 13,000 outside of North America.

Nothing on the Mopar Recalls site yet, my truck is booked in for the Tailgate latch check tommorow, doubt this one will be getting done by then

My 19 has solenoids like the older rams, then they went to a module that has been nothing but problems since. Serves them right, don’t fix what isn’t broken.

Last time they did a recall on the grid heater relay I couldn’t find out if the 2019 solenoid would fit a newer truck. Seemed a better way to go.

This might be it. 2nd recall on the grid heater relay. Looks like this one replaces the grid heater relay, probably with a new design.

Looks like my truck is involved. Thing doesn't fit i my garage anyway. However I will remove the cable from the relay. Don't need the grid heater anyway since I only drive in warmer climates. I still have to take it in for the tailgate recall, although mine seems to latch just fine.
