I will start with the fact that I hate rumors. But I heard a rumor long ago about FCA requesting that Cummins build an engine that doesn’t last that long. IIRC, I think B20 was the term for 10% failure rate by 200,000 miles. I work in an industry of high mileage vehicles transporting campers. My 2019 was bought in January of 2020, now showing 314,000 miles. I know drivers who have had major failures under 300,000 miles. To date mine has cost me the most money in repairs getting to 300,000. For example, I have to add a quart of oil about every 5000 miles. So I started looking for a long block remanufactured. To my surprise you can’t find one and rebuilders are telling that the engine is not available yet or not worth rebuilding. My previous Rams, (2009, 2012 and 2016) all made it to 435+k relatively easy and had life left in them. Wish I had the 2016 back.
