Did ram just lower towing ratings for 25 and 3500 vehicles?

My ‘21 3500 CCLB 4x4 HEMI went down slightly tow-rating wise but payload stayed exactly the same. WTF Ram?!?!

I’m glad I took a screenshot of the numbers they published when I first got the truck compared to today…

What GVWR change for a 2500?

They're all 10K, always have been (since 4th gen) (excluding PW)

Gvwr is printed on the door sticker, there would have to be a recall to change that, gcwr or gcvwr might have changed but it would just be reduced by the same amount that the tow rating was.

Sorry, typo or auto correct got me. GCWR changed too, not GVWR. I edited my original post.

GCVWR isn’t a rating.

The towing capacity for my Rebel showed up for the first time tonight. Looks like what I expected. 61 lbs higher payload and 390 lbs higher towing than my 2020 Limited had and the only thing that had that this doesn’t is a little bit of extra leather and some wood, and the Rebel has a winch. Curious.

Depending who you talk to they call combined weight rating gcwr (gross combined weight rating) or gcvwr (gross combined vehicle weight rating)
Same **** either way

My 2020 power wagon dropped by over 1500lbs towing and payload by 145 lbs. so previous pathetic payload even more pathetic now. So will I get a recall to change the door decal that says pay load 1565?

Only people that don’t know what the actual term is use GCVWR. GCWR is the correct and official term.

It’s like saying Cummings. People know what you’re talking about, but it’s not correct.

I'm not sure if mine changed as I didn't record the towing capacity when new. Here's the current.

I searched for my GCWR and cannot find it in my records or a google search. Is GCWR a figure that has to be calculated ?

It’s posted on the Ram website under Ram Commercial/Body Builder’s Guide.

Select you year and model, and then go to the Technical Information menu.

Thank You
Found it. They sure buried that info, I would have never found it.
Much Appreciated

Your tow rating should be GCWR-curb weight.
Here's my data using your towing formula. Interesting

24800 (Ram current website) - 21310 (Brutal Formula) = 3490 difference

My ratings from 2020 RAM 3500 Mega dualy HO went from 34,305 (web site in 2020)max trailer to today 32,880 per my VIN number on the RAM website. Not that I would ever tow class B weight with a pickup, but it was nice to know I was way UNDER rating with my trailer at 17K....

My 21 2500 Cummins went from 20,000 max tow to 17,840 I only ever tow up to 14,000lbs so it’s not a huge deal for me but it’s still kinda shady. My plenty of wiggle room is now not quite as big.

Can you share your payload number?

I bet the change is, they decided to add tongue weight as a parameter.

Bet we will find very few HEMI trucks changed...as the GCWR is the same 2500 to 3500 and they always have more payload than towing.

But, the biggest changes will be in Cummins trucks, as they have a much higher GCWR and lower payloads

I have always stated...payload and max towing numbers are useless

You need GVWR, F and RGAWR and GCWR and do the math yourself...as everyone has a different load out.

I have very rarely came across a 150lb grown man in my life....my self tipping the scales dressed for work at 325 lbs.

Since we argue about the proper terminology...and I lost interest but am still curious.

Did they actually change GCWR and GVWR?

This would be a huge issue then, and not just a programing error or change in parameter.

It appears GCWR’s have changed for some, no GVWR changes that I have seen.

I agree on payload and max towing being fairly useless, more so on max towing than payload.
