I think perhaps that you unconsciously think that if you "worry enough", you can prevent bad things from happening. worrying becomes excessive, it can and will lead to high anxiety and will cause you to be physically ill. I honestly believe RAM will do right by us.

Now that’s funny right there!
I imagine that’s a difficult job to have right now.

Going to see how FCA responds/takes care of 19-20 owners before I make decision to purchase a 2021 model 3500. If they leave you guys having and keep denying warranty claims on “contaminated fuel” BS I’ll spend 70K with a competitor.

Watch out, some competitors use the CP4!!

As a career mechanic and retiring from UPS I worked on the 5.9L Cummins and the 6.7L The 6.7L was such an improvement over the 5.9L weaknesses. (Timing cover dowel and oil leaks all over, LOL) I had a 2002 F250 with the 7.3L powerstroke. It spent most of it's life hooked to my 22 foot trailer. In 6 years of retirement I have a small excavating business and wanted something to legally haul my D4 CAT. Since Ford let everyone down with the 6.0 and 6.4 Powerstrokes it left a bad taste, even thought the 6.7L powerstroke has been reliable they still have the CP4 issue. So, after much research and assurance of the CP4 not having issues on the 6.7 Cummins in the Ram since it has the booster pump from the tank I decided to give the Ram a try. A 3500 DRW, HO, Aisin. Excellant truck so far but after more time has passed the CP4 failures have started to show up. At least at UPS just about any large issue on our Cummins powered vehicles it always seemed like Cummins stepped up and solved the issues. I would think with FCA Ram they would push to make everything correct and push for a solution. I just hate that I gave up a 7.3 Powerstroke that never left me down and now have a 2020 Ram 3500 that could lay down on me at anytime. Paid too much hard earned $$$ to wonder when it will happen. And then to do the CP3 conversion would jeopardize the warranty. Like others I hope FCA does everyone right on this.

At this point even if FCA put together a parts list/kit for an OEM CP3 swap and maintained warranty I would be at least satisfied there was a way to resolve the issue, even if it was on my own dime. You'd think the 2021 CP3 would bolt up to the 2019/2020 trucks with the correct parts.

My 2020 was built in October. It has the large dimple. ALL 2020s have the CP4. Any new ram with the new CP3 is labeled as a 2021.

Here is my pump:

Il Not all CP4's are the same in the 2020 models, I was referencing the CP4 redesign from Asymmetrical to Symmetrical cam lobes, which was introduced in builds starting 8/20

The smaller dimples are the factor line / origin

Those with the larger dimple is the redesigned cp4 from asymmetrical to symmetrical lobes

Unfortunately, I am sure Ramcares cannot say anything until FCA tells them exactly what to say. They need to keep their job so the frustration should be directed at FCA. I do hope they are passing the frustration up the chain, however!

Very true and I 100% agree that hostility towards @RamCares is not warranted and won't be tolerated here.

That said, RamCares does keep a watchful eye out watch for issues on social media and the forums, and I'm sure reports anything significant to FCA so please keep that in mind if anyone feels the need to lash out. Please be civil and respectful.

As for myself I am going to use my truck to pull my travel trailer toy hauler all over the place and not worry about my CP4.2 failing me.
There are too many other things to worry about in life if that is what one wants to do.
If I have a problem develop then I will cross that bridge when I come to it and report it here.

OK my 21HO showed up today.... it does have a CP3. None of the stickers on the truck or the motor says anything about horsepower or torque.

I called. Gave my VIN. Clerk said no recalls. I said how about TSB or STAR bulletons or references to my 2020 RAM 3500 CP4.2 pump. He repeated, no recallsfor my truck. If it breaks, it is covered under warranty.

No case number offerred. No nothing because I have not had an issue.

I have all receipts, and to top that, I only use my three gas cards to guarantee I have proof. If FCA denies warranty, that will be the end of Ram for me. I wouldn't even own the 2019 if I haven't had so many issues with my 2007 C&C after an ECM update in 2009. It surged so bad during regen that I had to go to a SMF and DD3250 clutch after slipping the stock clutch. Then the G56 overheating causing me to develop a cooling system with pump and filter. I also had to go to EFILive with EPA intact, to try to calm down the surging which worked well for me. I'll just have to sell the 5ver and use the wife's Toyota Highlander to tow the new Pontoon boat, if they deny warranty.

I'm 1.25 years into the 5 year warranty on my 2019. There will probably be a recall by then or we'll know we are on our own during the warranty period. I only have 14K miles, so its doubtful it will go past 100K miles within that time. If it does go within the warranty period, FCA should cover the replacement, which by then might be the CP3.

I also called Ram Customer care today and voiced my concern and frustration as to why they did not put in a CP3 in my truck in October 2020 for my second Cp4 pump replacement as 2 months later 2021 MY trucks would show up with a CP3 pump. Instead they replaced the second pump with the symmetrical pump. Was given a case number and I asked for a replacement for a 2021 MY truck as my truck has been out of service for CP4 pump replacements since new for 63 days in 1 year of ownership.

Just made the call and put my concern in the system.

This has me pretty concerned with my 19 Cummins. It is just hard to wrap my head around this not being covered by a warranty. Are there any incidents where people on here have been successful in having the warranty cover the repairs?

900 miles and warranty is denied? That is crazy. They cannot use contaminated fuel as an excuse for a failed design. At least they shouldn’t. Let’s make this right Ram. It would be nice to have a replacement program to the CP3. Even if the customer chipped in some.....
