Aux Switches

I bought F/R Fab Four bumper for my truck and wanted to add the Aux switches to wire F/R led lights. Since no kit is available for the 19's I started researching parts and have the electrical part connectors in route to fit the oem PDC box, as you all know Ram has installed the PDC relay box in the 19's as part of the wiring harness wiring dash Left but did not include the wiring on trucks with no Aux switches. It's only wired for the cab heater on the diesel and no room to add another relay box in that area. I downloaded the service manual from tech authority and have made sense of all the wiring connection to the PDC and such.

I plan on wiring my truck using the oem PDC box but the problem as of yet is the Instrument Panel Switch that will fit my truck Tow/Haul Exhaust Brake, Park Front/Rear and 6 Aux switches won't be available till mid February. For some odd reason Ram has no inventory of the switches as they are all going into trucks being built. So I will get it all wired up and wait for the switch to show up. I have had my PDC box all apart and should not be that hard to do with some knowledge.

Should be able to add Aux switches to a Power Wagon as well, but not sure on the exhaust brake/traction control switch function on the switch as my truck has the traction control up on the MODULE-INTEGRATED CENTER STACK SWITCH BANK with the Hazard above the radio.

I will have F/R white painted bumper from my truck if anyone is interested when I get the front installed when it shows up mid January.

I really wish you weren’t so far away. I would be interested in both the bumpers, and a guided tour of the switch wiring process.

Sorry about the distance on the bumpers.

I have enough connectors coming in to make 5 sets, they had minimums on the connectors and will be making mine and trying it out and documenting it all for future reference or maybe build some for sale after I know it all works on my truck.

Have you considered vacationing in DFW? Then you could just drop them off!

Seriously, if you end up making kits for sale, shoot me a PM. Good Luck!

Detailed procedure with pics and parts list writeup would be awsome

Following for more info. I have a 2019 Power Wagon and want to add the switches. It looks like most of the parts places don't even have the switch panels listed for the 2019s yet.

I'm just waiting for parts to show up to get to work on this, mind you I have a Diesel that I will be working on and the switch will not be available till mid February as I'm told. As to getting it to work on a Power Wagon I'm just not sure yet as on our Diesel trucks the exhaust brake have 3 functions off/auto/on and traction control is up with the Hazard button while in that same spot the Power Wagon is the traction control 2 function on/off. I'm guessing it's all controlled in the switch as all the wiring looks to be the same to the switch across all trucks.

I think I have tracked down the part number for the switch panel I would need. I need to have the tow/haul, traction control, front park sensor and rear park sensor. Just like the image below. Have you tracked down the required terminals and relays?

Looks like and as you know they aren't cheap either $205 retail, the issue is Ram not having any inventory of them at the moment at least for unit I need.

I have sourced the parts just waiting for them to show up to begin work on it. I have around 40 hours into this researching wiring diagrams and sourcing parts and making a Solidworks model and print of the wiring base for the wire layout and about $500 in terminals, wiring and crimpers to do my truck at this moment not including a switch panel. If you could take a pic of the wiring that goes into your switch behind the dash panel so I could compare it with the Diesel would be great.

I almost bought a Power Wagon but in the end decided on the diesel after I drove both based on MPG back to back and resale so I'm turning my truck into a Diesel power Power Wagon, Just waiting for the Fab Four winch bumper to come in and that's what got me working on this Aux kit as I did not want to cut up my dash to put in a bunch of switches for lights.

How about just a sticky note?

Wire both bed outlets to one switch and then rewire them so your light bar is on number one with the rest going from front of the truck to the back. Super easy to remember if they are ordered front to back of the truck.

I am in the same situation. I ordered some bumpers from Expedition One. I am a big fan of keeping the factory look and not having to go aftermarket. I actually ordered a SPOD Bantam but will be returning it if I can get this to work. I have made a number of wire harnesses and fuse blocks in the past and have most of the tools. I also have a bunch of different type of connectors and terminals (Metri-pack, deutsch, amp, molex, etc)

With that said I looked last night and my PW does not have the auxiliary PDC box installed. This makes sense based on your comments on why it is installed on your truck. I am not sure if this is something that can be purchased or not. I am going to do some research. I will take a look at the wiring behind the switches this weekend and report back.

Please do let me know on the wiring on the back of the switch panel, That's interesting that there is no pdc box on your truck. I'm guessing mine has it due to the supplemental cab heater. You would think it would be cheaper to make 1 wiring harness to fit all trucks but that's just me.

I have installed the rear Fab Four bumper and it was not that hard, the hardest part was fighting with the safety latches on the 2 wiring connectors that were filled with dirt trying to get them apart as I spent more time on them than anything else. The stock rear bumper maybe weighs 15# total.

Got my automotive grade TXL and GXL wire in, and the aux switch connectors and terminals. I have some other misc stuff in as well including oem fusees, micro relays from Ram, wire mesh and crimpers, just waiting on some other things to get started. Trying to decide if I want to have the 2 male/female housing attached to the pdc box as well or just run a wire out and put a piece of heat shrink to dead end it if not in use but will add to the cost.

Just FYI. There is a guy that makes a plug and play kit to add these to. 4th gens and he is working on a kit for 19+ trucks.

4thgenramelectronics.com

These switches are a big reason that I custom ordered this truck and my 2014.

I spoke with him a few weeks ago and still no kit available and not sure when he will for the 5th gen, so I figured out how to wire up my PDC box to work all factory looking.

If you have a Diesel truck as I do, I have a PDC fuse box already in the way where he puts his fuse relay box so no room to add another in that area or remove it as it has the supplemental cab heater in it. I did not have a chance to do a custom order on this truck as my 19 1500 needed to go down the road and this 2500 had all the trim pieces I wanted except the aux switches at Dave Smith Motors.

So for an update. I have not had a chance to open my dash and look at the back of my switch bank. Based on the wiring schematics it looks all trucks are the same. I did order a switch bank that came with the switches I need. I just ordered the connectors so that I can connect to the back of the OEM switches. My plan is to wire up an aftermarket Bussmann RTMR relay/fuse panel to the OEM Aux switches. It only has 5 relays which is enough for my needs. Once I verify everything works I will share part numbers.

I wish that was the case for the switch I need, mid February is when I'm told it will be available. I have all of my wire in, I should have the last of the terminals for the oem PDC box in this week so I can wire mine up even down to the the 2 exit 4 outlet plugs just like OEM only if the weather will hold up and if my CP4 pump doesn't crap out in the mean time. It's been nasty out here, 36°-42° and raining sideways for weeks and I can only get the cab into the garage.

Finally got the last of the parts in today, now just got to find the time to wire this sucker up and wait for the switch panel to come off back order mid February. Or if my CP4 pump fails, which ever comes first.

Anyone happen to know the part number for the 2019+ HD switch panel. I'm hoping they have that panel with AUX 6 instead of PTO but I'd take that even if the 6th switch were unusable. Pic attached.
