Looking for someone that has a 2023 Ram with surround view cameras, and AlfaOBD. I’m specifically looking for someone that has the feature where the side view camera automatically displays in the radio screen with turn signal, and/or the automatic front camera display with park sense.
If so, can I get the AlfaOBD backup file and system ID log? 2023 isn’t supported yet on AlfaOBD, but @DeadEnd has a link to a custom apk file that has support for it, so he might be able to provide that if needed.

I have those features (as we discussed in the other thread), but my automatic turn signal camera isn't working. I've attached the backup I pulled.

Awesome. Is the system ID read still not showing up. If you can get me that log too, that’d be awesome. Otherwise, I can probably deduce what all your CustSetMenu settings are based on equipment listing so I can match your settings on my bench BCM, and pick out the value differences.
Basically, I’m trying to determine which “reserved settings” belong to those missing CustSetMenu settings so I can tell Alexey to add them and their names.

Still can't get an ID read. As soon as I get a new version from Alexey I'll get that over too.

Also, is there a setting in the radio to toggle the check rear seat reminder?

I didn't see one yesterday, but I wasn't specifically looking for it then. I'll check for it later today. It's listed in the '23 manual. I definitely want to turn it off as I don't think any of my recovery gear is going to be concerned if I leave it in my back seat.

They have an alert to check the rear seat? If you cant figure that out you have a kid in the truck you should not have a licence
I wasn’t really looking to make a discussion out of it. I just need to know if his particular truck has that setting in the menu so I know if I need to factor that in when digging through the setting values.

@Jimmy07 I got an updated version from Alexey and have a BCM dump now. How would you like me to get that to you?

I was (unsurprisingly) unable to find anything about the blind spot view camera activation or the rear set reminder. Since the setting for the first one on my truck doesn't work, and the setting for the second doesn't exist I'm hoping the work you do with this helps me fix it. I really would rather avoid taking it to the dealer for the blind spot view issue.

Some additional notes: While the manual says "Current Gear Indicator" is an option with the "Premium Cluster" (12" digital"), like in previous trucks the option doesn't show up. I enabled it in AlfaOBD and now it's available and works. I also successfully changed the tire pressure settings.

If you can PM it to me as a google drive link, that would be great.
So, you have a setting for blind spot camera with turn signal (not working), but no setting for rear seat reminder? Do you have a setting for front camera with part assist? I noticed someone posted a thread noting that he has that auto front cam feature and it works.
Also, what software build version is your radio on?

Link is on it's way.

  • I have a setting in UConnect for "Turn Signal Activated Blind Spot View" that has options for "Off", "On", or "Only with Trailer". I have it set to on but the camera never displays. I don't have access to my trailer right now so I can't test that setting.
  • I do not have the setting (as listed in the OM) for "Rear Seat Alert", but it does pop up with a chime every time I turn the truck off.
  • I do have a setting for "Front ParkSense Camera Activation". I think it works, but I need to test further.
  • My radio is on what seems to be an older version FCA-MY23.T25.48-PROD, but given the "MY23" in the name I don't know if I can update with the versions that have been discussed here. I'd like to get an update if it's possible, as my radio frequently crashes out of the "Apps" page back to whatever previous screen I was on.
Unrelated to software bugs, There are some dumb design decisions on UC5. Who decided that you shouldn't be able to replace the bottom row of quick buttons? The "Comfort" button is useless since everything there exists as a hard button. The "Off-road" page under "Vehicle" that just is a giant button to open Off-Road Pages is stupid. They also have a Trailering app that seems pretty well designed, except the only way to get to it is to find it on the Apps page, and it has "Turbo Boost" as a gauge that shows up, even on a Hemi.

Ok, so that just told me why I can’t get any of those new settings to show up in the 2022 UC5 radios. 23 is using a new UC5 radio module with different software, so you can’t update with any of the 2022 software.
CustSetMenu 3 in AlfaOBD is what puts those settings in the vehicle settings menus. 62014E is the line item in the backup file for CustSetMenu 3. You have 7 more of those settings set to YES than I do, but I don’t know exactly what they are because they are all named “reserved” in the version of CDA6 that I have. I had someone spoof that whole CustSetMenu 3 message ID line to the 2022 radio with an arduino, and they wouldn’t show up.

So, it sounds like with the new 2023 UC5 radio modules, you’ll be going through the rampant software issues and glitches all over again just like the 2022 UC5 (which had about 9 updates in the year it’s been out).

@Jimmy07 Since the 2023's are using a different version of the UC5 module than the 2022's, would that mean there is no way to load these features on a 2022 with the blindspot and camera hardware? Or just that it will take some time to understand what needs to be done to make it happen.

Thanks for your support on the Forum!

There’s actually four different things going on there for those settings, and what would be needed to make them work on pre-2023.
1) The pre-2023 body computer doesn’t broadcast the messages for those settings to tell the radio to populate them, which is why I had someone use an arduino to force those messages to the radio. So, a 2023 BCM would be needed.
2) Forcing the messages to the 2022 UC5 radio module did not make those settings show up, and finding out the 2023 UC5 radio module is a different part number and software, a 2023 radio module would be needed.
3) EVEN after you get the settings to show up in the radio, they probably won’t actually work unless you swap out your current surround view camera processor for the 2023 Camera processor, which is a new part number.
4) Knowing how the AlfaOBD developer gets all the information for putting the settings on the app, it’s going to be a while before he can add these settings to the CustSetMenu 3 list for the average user to enable them. It’s hard to explain, but in the BCM message ID section where CustSetMenu 3 is, there is a block of 24 settings that are just named reserved (because they didn’t have a name yet when the version of engineering software we have was released). With @jsalbre backup file above, and a process of elimination compared to mine, I was able to narrow it down to a possible 7 of those reserved settings. If I’m able to first have them show up in the radio, then I can go by one by one changing values to see which setting disappears, then I can tell the developer which byte does what, and what to name the setting.

Jimmy, are you able to tell what of those new settings in mine is set to off? If so I might be able to try flipping it and seeing if the blind spot camera then works, possibly identifying one of the 7.

Actually, I do have something you can try. First, take a pic of each of your settings menu pages so you have something to compare to to see what all settings disappear.
Take your backup file you created, and change line item 62014E to:
62014E 88 00 00 00 00 00 01 70
That’s 7 settings disabled from what yours is currently, and two of them are the blind spot camera and front camera with park assist, but that’s the least I can get it narrowed down to right now.
Once you change that line and save it, use AlfaOBD to restore configuration from the modified backup file. It takes a couple minutes, and it will ultimately say failed, but it will have actually made those changes.
Reboot the radio twice in a row by pressing and holding the power button until the screen shuts off, then check to see which settings disappeared.
Then you can restore the configuration back to your original backup file.

I'll have to take another backup first as I've made a few changes (Perf Pages: Yes, Max Load Inflation, and Actual Gear Display: yes), but those shouldn't affect that line since none of them are in Cust Set 3.

I'll give it a shot in a bit.

Edit to add: Those are all CSM settings, so even figuring this out won't help get my blind spot camera actually working I assume?

After restoring the modified backup I noticed the following changes:
  1. "Safety & Driving Assistance" / "ParkSense Based Camera Activation" is missing.
  2. "Camera" - "Turn Signal Activated Blind Spot View" is missing.
Additional notes: I'm surprised that "Auto Folding Side Mirrors" didn't disappear from "Mirrors & Wipers"

I'm not sure that's going to help you narrow it down much since I only found 2 items that changed.

Auto folding mirror CSM is a CustSetMenu 2 setting.
I can’t for the life of me think of what 5 other settings would be. Maybe send me your system ID log if you would. I’ll compare my CustSetMenu 3 to yours. I figure the only ones listed in AlfaOBD that we both have set is rear cargo guidance lights, CHMSL centerline, front cam gridlines, tire fill alert, trailer length blind spot, and power side step.
