Yesterday on my way to work I turned the screen off on the back roads. When I got back on the main road with street lamps I touched the screen and the audio immediately sounded like what I can only describe as AM radio with ****ty reception. Still on the same sirius channel, but sounded like all my speakers turned into drive thru audio

Tried to turn the radio off then on, same. Switched to FM and Bluetooth, same. Got to work, turned the truck off then back on, same.

Did my workday, decided my second-to-last resort was unplug the battery for a bit before leaving, but fortunately never got to that. Started the truck and it was fine

My last resort is always the dealer

We're sorry to hear that you are also experiencing this concern. When you do have the opportunity to visit the dealer, please feel free to loop us in! If additional assistance is needed throughout your dealer visit, send us a PM. We'd be happy to connect you with a Case Specialist to assist.

Well my truck is on its second visit for what was determined by Ram to be paint defect in the tailgate. Got it back and 18 miles later and loading two items into my bed the defects reappeared. Took it back and sent it backto the body shop and acutally opened the tailgate up and found the welds on the support bar have bad welds and when i step on the tailgate it pushes the bad weld into the outside panel causing the issue. Now to wait for a new tailgate. To top it off as I started to leave the dealership when I took it back the same day noticed a clunk when I turn the wheel, Guess what... the draglink is defective and on back order. How disaapointing after what I paid for the truck

Overall, not bad for my first Ram (2500 6.7 Megacab). Took into the dealer today. Three issues trying to get addressed:
  1. Rattle in rear of cab (possibly the cab mounts)
  2. Funky performance of UConnect (XM freezes, Apple CarPlay issues, etc)
  3. Intermittent transmission solenoid fault (was on a trip from KS to CO when all the bells and whistles went off and had to take it to a dealer in CO - which was fantastic BTW - who diagnosed and cleared the faults. Would have had them replace the solenoid but it was going to take about 5 days to get the part and I was on a timeline. Said it was OK to drive, fault had been cleared, and may never pop up again.
Vehicle has about 5,300 miles. Sat for three hours at dealership waiting. Service advisor came out and told me that the tech could hear the rattle and thought it could possibly be the cab bolts needed to be torqued, or two bolts near the cab mount. Could also be the rear window (which I highly doubt). I hope I don't end up with more rattles than when we started. He also told me there is a UConnect update coming out today but he couldn't access it just yet. Lastly, he said that since there were currently no CELs or problems annotated in the memory that there wasn't anything he could do for me at this time regards the transmission. I said "Fine, I'd wait." Came back about 10 minutes later and offered a loaner and told me it was going to take a while to isolate the rattle. I took the loaner and was on my way. I'll report back with any updates.

So, I might as well put this out there because I am just plain depressed about how long my truck has been down.
I have a 2019 big horn 2500 with the 6.4 and 8 speed transmission. Starting at just over 1000 miles the transmission would randomly shift to neutral. Not often, but when it happens in an intersection you tend to get an oh crap moment. The message that came up that time was shift into park then into desired gear. The dealer opened a Star case, did software updates and flashes, and replaced the transmission control valve. This was around 6000 miles, and all was fine until it happened again at 9000ish miles. This time it was when I was backing into a driveway so I took a video before I shifted to park and reverse again. I researched all manufacturers and they all have issues, but of course I got one in my new ram. The Dealer has been trying, but this is not an issue they can reproduce. My big issue is I just don’t feel safe putting my kids into this truck if I ever get it back, I can’t afford to loose the huge amount of money to just dump it, and after talking to a Chrysler rep again today just don’t feel warm fuzzies that the issue will actually be resolved. Take it for what it’s worth, there will be problem vehicles with any manufacturer, but when I had an issue with my old Chevy even though it was out of warranty there was a paper trail indicating issues before (it was the 2010 afm engine known for excess oil consumption) Chevy took care of me and made me feel like I mattered. Not so much with my current Chrysler rep.

I have a very similar issue. Same drive-train. All the times it has happened has been while moving in reverse at a very slow speed with one exception which was pulling out of a parking place in drive with cars coming at me being stalled with oncoming traffic. Incredibly dangerous. I filed a report with the NHTSA. https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/ I would do the same. If enough people report this, RAM will be required to fix it. My transmission selector just flashes when it happens. I guess it is in neutral as it will roll. I haven't taken it into the dealer for it because of covid, but I will probably soon. This is serious problem and if they can't repair it, our lemon law should come into play. If you are seriously looking at dumping the truck, I would look into that, because you will lose less money. Mine has done it very infrequently. Maybe 10 times in the last 11 months at most. Last time was well before covid hit, so maybe it has fixed itself??? They would never be able to reproduce it. I've decided RAM stands for "Random Automobile Malfunction."

I will file a report with NHTSA, you make person number 4 I have found with the same issue, so the number of people experiencing this is probably higher. My response from Chrysler has been we will fix it..... I got the truck back and there is still something going on. When the dealer returned the truck in the details was “informed customer to monitor condition” so I went out and bought a dash cam to put right over the drivers cluster (I don’t want to be libel for driving something that causes an accident when Chrysler knows about it. I can’t afford another vehicle while paying on this one) Already I have a video of the rpm surging while backing up, and an odd rpm jump at 30mph( like I was hitting the brakes with tow/haul on). It is a serious problem that will cause an accident at some point. It really is a scary thing in traffic.

Brucie,
I spent several hours with the dealers service manage today and while it is no fun to be a test case, my dash camera focused on the instrument cluster caught the tachometer dropping below 500 rpm, which can depending on how low below cause the transmission to drop into neutral in order to prevent the engine from stalling. He even pulled over a brand new truck with the same engine and compared the two on the computer. I have hopes for the first time since talking to the chrysler retention rep that something is actually going the right way. We still have to wait and see as he has to submit findings up the food chain, and then someone at corporate makes a decision

That makes a lot of sense from what I have experienced. Always very low RPMs. One time backing up a trailer. Another time backing slowly in a gravel parking lot with loose gravel, plus many more all around very low speeds.

At 3000 miles the truck died and wouldn't start... turns out it blew up the fuel pump (from what service writer says is happening a bunch, he had 6 trucks on the lot with same issue) it shot metal through the whole fuel system.... he said it has been taking 2 months to get the parts (everything except fuel tank) to fix it... He said to cal FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and get it escalated... trust me I did... I had the truck back in 3 weeks... all under warranty... the parts bill alone was 16k...

Can you post a good photo of your new pump? Interesting to see if it has the revision with the updated lobe design.

I'm really glad to hear they covered everything. The way everybody talks, it's like were screwed if the cp4 goes out and takes out the entire fuel system in the process. 16k few we. Did they waiver at all on covering it and did they happen to mention how long it would be covered for. Most of the info out there sais that they reject the claim and call it contaminated fuel

Yes I can take a picture of pump... but first take a picture of yours showing location... because I have no clue where it is... this is my first Cummins.. I believe the tech said that the new pump is an opposite design of the original one.... I think original is Asymmetrical and this one is symmetrical, or vise versa... I can't remember with way..

It died on a Tuesday, At first they said they would have to check that the fuel was not contaminated and would let me know as soon as the could get a tech to diagnosed... before the would put me in a rental..... Then I still had not heard from them by mid day on Wednesday so I called my salesman who I have bought a 2016 4Runner, a 2017 RAM 1500 and this truck from. So he said he would walk across street and ask service writer... Salesman called back 5 minutes later and said the service would be putting me in a rental... I called service and he said that it was the fuel pump and he had 6 Enterprise rental trucks on lot with same problem.... he said that the parts have been taking 8 weeks to get there... and said I should call FCA and get the case escalated...(BUT they never even popped the hood on my truck) i called and they got my parts first and I had truck back in 3 weeks... then with only 3000 miles they don't want to spend the money to replace the valve cover gasket... so I got home and ended up with a 12" oil spot on my driveway.... so another rental car an another day it's was still dripping because the oil had soaked all the heat blankets... they cleaned it as much as they could and then I put a few 100 miles on it and it stopped leaking...

I will never buy from Chuck Patterson Dodge in Chico CA again... Very unhappy customer...

As far as how long it's covered? I am not sure...

Omg, man , I & we all feel for you. That's so horrible for you to have to go through this. This is not the way its supposed to work out for anybody. There are a few threads on here that have talked about this potential cp4 fuel pump issue and were all scared to death that what happened to you can happen to anybody. Im glad that nothing caught fire and your ok. Fca if your listening, please give us our cp3's back before we all wind up like graphxdesignes. Stay strong and keep us posted, please, nobody deserves to go through your kind of car buying experience

Don't think anyone said it yet, but be ready to add fuel additives to protect your new pump from now on.
Hot Shot Secret's LX4 or EDT and Opti-lube's XDP are very good choices for this problem.

Check to make sure your cab isn’t what’s crooked, I had to loosen up my cab bolts and shift it to mate up to the bed.
I should have thought of that. My ‘17 1500 was noticeably crooked. I loosened the box bolts and adjusted what I could too but it was still way off.

I too have the “Rattle”. I’ll check the rear
Sway bars. The satellite radio reception is awful, and lastly the bass is non existent in the stereo.
I do otherwise really like the truck. And my hood stays pretty damn tight regardless of wind or speed, definitely better than my f150’s. There is some shake but nothing like some of you describe

I also found the bass lacking until I started streaming from my phone. It works great now!
It is simply non-existent with XM. Many say it's because of the audio compression they use. Well, whatever. As much as I like the concept of XM, I won't be renewing the service when tryout expires because of the continuous cuts.
Streaming from my phone gets me pretty much the same as XM, but I get bass and NO cuts!

Gets you more music too. all of the stations on XM loop the same songs constantly.

I should mention that my setup (Youtube Music on Android) is 100% automatic. As soon as I start the truck, the music restart exactly where it was last halted when I previously stopped the truck. I just need to have my phone in my pocket, no intervention from my part!
So... that is a winning combo imho. There are a lot of curated playlists (or "stations" they call them) to suit your mood. Similar to XM if you will.
If you connect the phone with the cable, then you can also select everything from the uconnect display.

Thanks, nobody has mentioned it yet and I am searching for the threads for CP4...Would Napa, Autozone, Pepboys, Oriely have those products or where do I get them?
