Anybody Have Any Issues with the new HD's yet?

It's basically the same 8spd transmission I had in my 18 GC Hemi TH which also has radio switches on the back of the wheel. Manual mode would be a fairly simple software change.
Yes, I wasn't thinking gasser.

I have about 3,000 miles on a 2019 2500 Cummins. I purchased it in November 2019

Problems that I have experienced so far:
1) The engine fan clutch seized, sounded like a giant vacuum truck. Dealer replaced but I had to wait a week for an appointment and took them 2 days to diagnose and fix?

2) Windshield wipers make a clang sound under the hood. I live in Oregon it has been raining constantly for the 3 months I have owned the truck. I have not taken it in yet

3) Clunk / play in the ball joints or hub assembly. I have not taken in yet. I took the wheels off to install mudflaps, when I put the wheels back on I could feel some play accompanied by a clunking sound when pushing/pulling on the wheel. Same feel vertically and horizontally so I think it is the hub. It does this on both sides.

4) Uconnect system shuts down and re-boots randomly. Probably a couple times a week.

5) When shifting from park to drive, sometimes there is a loud chirp from the transmission
Mine is doing the clunking too. It’s worse when it’s cold and I live in South Louisiana so I’m dealing with it until a few of you guys actually have it fixed 100%.

It feels like a loose shock frankly but they are all to spec.

If I am turning and I hit a small bump just right, I get a klunk sound on the right front. I should take the truck in but I just know they are gonna say "we test drove it and tech could not replicate".

Hi all,

Please be sure to let us know if you decide to address your current concerns with your dealers. We are more than happy to get cases escalated on your behalf to provide you with an additional layer of support for that process. Our team is always a DM away.

Just picked up my new Ram 2500 on Saturday. Have already noticed a clunk more than a few times. Seems to be coming from front right area. Usually happens when turning right into my driveway (it’s quite a dip from the road to the driveway). Happened a couple other times usually when turning right onto a lower surface.

My truck is a September 2019 build date.

Pretty bummed. Truck just rolled over 400 miles and may have to take it in ☹

Surprised this is still an issue on such a late build date....

Mark is on point. Not many manufactures are actively in forums to help customers.

I will second that ;) Nice knowing that they are on here to help us!! Now, if I can ask for help on how to private message them? I’m afraid I’m gonna have to end up reaching out to them to put fire under my dealership so I can get some satisfaction! Still new to this forum thing and I’m just not very tech savvy....:-(

Mine was a June build and has it. I don’t expect it to get better or have a fix. I have a feeling it’s going to be a wide problem that we will have to accept. There is no way this is making the list of priorities for Ram. Not when they have 68RFE trucks starting on fire.

I will say my new body mounts came in and they will be installed tomorrow-Friday.

That won’t help the clunk but it might help the metal on metal with the clunk.

Be sure to let us know if the body mount fixes it. 1500 owners had very similar issue and turned out to be sway bar end links not tightened or bad.

wondering if it’s the same thing.

Suggested that and they looked at me stupid
So I’ll let them run their course and eventually end up at the same conclusion I have

I will say that after they re-torque everything and tighten everything down because there were some that were free spinning, the clunk is there it’s not nearly as bad so I’ll help by giving them the benefit of some doubt.

Thank you Mark!!! I will be in touch if need be! I have my case number I can give you and the contact at Ram Customer Service and her extension if you will need it! Hoping my selling dealer will strive to resolve this, I do have two other dealers in my area but not sure how I will be accepted since I didn’t buy from them. Optimistic that all my issues will be resolved.

I live in Washington - Columbia River Gorge - haven't had issues with my wipers yet, other than I miss having auto speed wipers like I had on my Charger and Durango. Made it great when on I-84 when passing semis.

I also have a problem with my Uconnect - seems about every 10 or 11 starts, the entertainment system will shut down right after taking off, one or two blocks and have to stop already!
... says something in the cluster about 'energy saving mode' or something like that. When it happens, the only way to get everything back up again is to pull over, shut off completely, start the truck again, and hope it stays on this time.

You are most welcome, Curt! If you want to send over that case number via PM, I would be more than happy to look into and provide any updates that I can. Additionally, if you have any trouble hearing from your case manager, I am more than happy to reach out to them on your behalf.

Hi Ufoldfirst,

I certainly understand why this would be frustrating. If you would like to discuss your Uconnect troubles further, please do not hesitate to send me a PM!

Got my truck back today

All cab mounts replaced.

Tech was great
Advisor was great

Anyway as you can see in the photos some of the metal mounts where the cab rests had gouging. This explains the mental on metal noise

Now this didn’t solve the clunk but it solved the grinding, time will tell. They know the fix isn’t permanent but it’s a good start. I was happy to see their honesty and the fact they remain committed in finding the clunk noise.

Background two front cab mounts were free spinning and the rears were not even torqued to spec, like shy by 20ft-lbs

Hoping for the best as we move forward but it’s progress

What’s the last pic? Is it in plastic?

Are they going to check sway bar end links for the clunk?

Haven’t made an appointment for my truck yet. The clunk only happens when turning onto a lower surface and I feel the dealer won’t be able to replicate it.

Did the bad mounts cause any clunk? Or just the grinding?

Thanks for the update!

They checked the sway bar and no issues found at this time. Could be sprung thought though causing the clunk. It’s in my short list to replace.

Get it in. They will be able to but be VERY VERY specific. I had videos and it took them a min.

Unknown at this time. I haven’t heard the clunk yet but the grind seems to be gone.

Heres my rant, 19 TM 2500 Cummins 3000 miles, since almost day one ive been getting a rattle sound when the truck is jolted driving or washboard roads. Ive taken it in 3 times now, theyve had the truck for a total of 3 weeks. First dealer visit had my truck for four days, no phone call updates nothing, finally say its ready and say the sound was my happy jack camper brackets. I told them you had my truck for four days to tell me that. I told them I just installed them which i did. So they had the head service guy drive around the block with me. As soon as I open the door im greeted with grease on my driver and passenger seat. We drive around the block and the tech instantly heard the sound in the passenger side c pillar. So they ask to bring it back when a loaner is available. So I came back and dropped it off again. A week goes by no calls nothing. Go in ask about the truck they say the guy handling it is off, and they cant find my paperwork or the status of my truck. They said they would call back later that day with an update, nothing,. no call. Two days later I call they say the truck will be ready. I go in ad they say no it was a loose connector under the seat. I ask to see it, and they show me the connector. I explain to them I unhooked that connector and its not it. Also the c pillar panel has grease prints all over it. So the original head tech says lets go for another drive hears the sound instantly, says something isnt right and asks to keep the truck longer. Its been another week no. No calls, nothing. I call in and they said the ordered a new seat belt. So well see if this fixes it. But its getting old. I want to install my Thuren kit and do wheels and tires , but worried theyll blame that next. Its nice having the warranty but at the same time its like pulling teeth. The dealer tries to get out everything. I dont even want to bring up issues, because its a headache and it shouldnt be. I paid for the warranty. Spending $50k on a brand new truck, thinking itd be problem free, but instead its sitting at the dealership. At this point I feel like I shouldve bought the Ford.

You may have some bad batteries. Get them load tested.

Hey zooroadbaja,

I want to sincerely apologize for the frustration you have had to endure to this point. Given your situation, I would like to get a case escalated on your behalf to a specialist who can work alongside you and your dealer for the rest of the time your truck is in service. Please follow up with me via private message if this would be of interest!
