i just went through this over the weekend and oh my freaking god those four bolts hidden by that cross member… grrrr!!
I used the hose trick but still that was not fun at all, even worse getting the pan back up with the gasket not shifting was a miracle and only took about five beers to accomplish…
Regarding a socket, the cutout for the bolt on the pan is too small for even a tiny 1/4 drive 10mm socket, the actual bolt barely fits through it. I’m tempted to pickup and extra 10mm socket and grind it right down to “very shallow” so I could use it to pull that screw out, may also try a flexible 10mm nut driver if I can find one that isn’t too large.
If I ever meet the Design Engineer at a bar …. Well violence will ensue lol.
