This is just a “how-to” thread for those interested in adding factory passive entry to their trucks. It won’t be a discussion about how useful or useless it may be, or why someone would want to do this.
This one is pretty easy to add, and the only parts you need are the correct proximity door handles, an antenna that mounts behind the license plate (this makes the tailgate handle operate passively), a pair of custom harnesses for the new door handles (PM me for details), and AlfaOBD.
I’ll post all the part numbers and AlfaOBD settings in a separate post below, but I won’t discuss AlfaOBD, or how it works in this thread (there are plenty of threads about it here, and YouTube videos).
If you have a truck that already has body colored handles, or body colored with chrome handles, you only need to buy new front handles for passive entry.
If you have a truck that has the flat black textured handles, you would need to buy new rear handles too, since there is no such thing as passive entry capable handles in flat textured black.
As far as doing the install, the video below pretty much shows you everything on how to do it. I’ll just add some pics of the connectors so you have a clearer view of where to insert the wires of the harnesses I supply.
The driver side harness will have two wires labeled “4C” and “5D”, and these are the positions they insert when looking at the side that the wires are going into:
The passenger side harness will have two wires labeled “4C” and “14C”, and these are their positions:
If anyone wants, the rear handles can be made passive entry also, and I build a custom set of harnesses for that. You would use two front passenger side proximity handles from the parts list to accomplish this.
