UPDATE: My Ram Customer Care “Premium Specialist” has assured me, for two weeks now, the Dealer has all the parts to repair my truck and was told it wold be ready by yesterday. NOT!! Now she is telling me “hopefully” it will be repaired by Thursday or Friday. I feel like I should get her to specify which Thursday or Friday she means. can you say, “run around”?

Is there anyone here that can verify how long it should take to instal the Snap ring and clutch kit and/or a new transmission if you had all the parts on hand? Something smells fishy.
Book time is 6 or 8 hours, including test drive. I cant remember which.

We have had our truck back for almost 2 months now. I can say she was a little sluggish at first. After 500 to 1000 miles it runs like a champ. Very little lag, and firm shifts. I will say, I think its better than when we drove it off the lot. Its firm power, no slop. Very pleased. We have put 5k miles on the truck 98% towing a 5th wheel. I have asked for a warranty extension. I also asked for a free transmission fluid flush, as I dont want my service intervals off. Ours failed at 26k. I also dont want to pay $600 to replace fluid that has 4k miles on it. Ill let you guys know what comes of the requests.

1. Date you ordered the truck (if applicable): 4/22
2. Date of manufacture: 7/22
3. Date you purchased the truck: Took delivery 10/22
4. Mileage on the odometer at the time of failure: 14,084 (0 towing miles. No towing done with this truck yet.)
5. Serial Number of failed transmission:: 2F-3634
6. Serial Number of replacement transmission (if applicable)? TBD
7. Were you towing at the time of failure? No (5 passengers and bed full of luggage. No where near payload capacity.)
8. Did 1st through 4th gear work? No
9. Did reverse work? Yes
10. What date did the transmission fail? 8/19/2023
11. When was the truck returned to you after repair? TBD
12. Did your dealer replace the transmission with a new unit or was the failed transmission repaired with parts? TBD

Awaiting transmission specialist to tear into it at dealership but all signs and codes I pulled point to K-1 snap ring failure. Waited 6 hrs for Ram Assist tow truck that never showed. Had to pay out of pocket to tow home from 3hrs away when it gave out on return trip from family vacation.

I very much appreciate having all your data upfront. Thanks for that! Sorry to hear about the truck. It’s really a shame this is continuing without any heads up from the manufacturer to consumers. Your story about ram towing assistance seems to be on par with what quite a few others experienced. Absolutely horrendous support. Save all receipts and document everything from the point of failure moving forward. Please keep me updated as you are able.

I hope everyone with this issue is filing complaints with the NHTSA. I did the other night and got to reading through some of the other ones and I’m surprised nobody has really had any major accidents or injuries. With such a serious problem it should warrant a recall.

i wish you all the best but id also start looking for a lawyer.

im in canada too and after 9 months down just got the truck back a little over a week ago…and i can confidently say theres still issues to be fixed. as far as warranty extension they told me “theyre not offering me anything like this at this time” you’ll likely get reimbursed for the tow but not until the case is closed (you get the truck back)

and if youre curious when they gave it back to me it had a nice thick layer of dust inside and out and basically the service manager gave me a “sorry it took so long it wasnt our fault its corporate” and that was it. not so much as a car wash or oil change lol not that it wouldve changed anything at this point.

Transmission gave out on 9/4/23
Miles. 4856
I was not towing, gave out on the freeway stop and go traffic.
Got towed to dealer and Service department is closed today for the holiday so I won't hear anything for probably a couple days.

Will do. Sorry to hear about your truck, you’re the second one today. These failures seem to always happen in pairs. If you’re near the truck and can grab the serial number off the side of the transmission case I would appreciate it. Blue metal tag on driver side of transmission case. It’ll be something like “2B-1234”. I’m assuming you lost forward gears? Did reverse work?

I did not take a picture truck is at the dealer. I will take a picture tomorrow, Truck did not move after second bang, I gave it more gas and truck moved very slow felt like it was driving on 5th gear. I was able to move to shoulder and out of the way I pulled over and called a tow truck to pick us up. Kids were sleeping in the back seat they woke up thinking we got rear ended it was so loud lol.

They informed me last week that repairs were complete on my transmission. Now we are working on how to get the truck back home. I'm looking forward to having it back, but I'm concerned as to whether I can trust it or not. It seems like most have had decent luck after the repairs were completed, so I'll try to remain positive. I've made 3 payments without having the truck in my possession, so I'm a little sour about the situation. I'll update when I have my truck back. They say there cant be any reimbursement for anything until I have received the truck and the case is closed.

What date was it repaired?
Hopefully it’s good to go. It’s a risk anytime this happens

I wonder if this is what’s holding up my 2024 3500 HO Mega Cab that was built on August 11th, and is still sitting in the vehicle lot in Saltillo, Mexico? It hasn’t moved from there at all. Maybe they’re trying to assess what has been built, and might be holding trucks until they figure out if what’s been built as a 2024 might have this issue. I hope they don’t issue a stop sell.

Not likely, its just that some trucks wait on storage lots more than others, no one has figured out exactly why yet, maybe waiting for a train, could be waiting for outside vendor items, could have a QC issue that is waiting to be fixed. I've been on here since I ordered my '22 in early 2022, and it's been the same story since then. Some trucks get built and shipped the same day, some wait for months. No rhyme or reason. I would ask your dealer to see if they have any status updates

There isn't much rhyme or reason as to how they ship out. My truck took ~6 weeks to ship, and dad's truck was built 2 weeks after mine and shipped within a few days.
