Such a rookie question, but does anyone know what sized inlet is needed for a new 2500 exhaust tip. I measure it at 4.5” but universally it’s either got to be 4” or 5” inlet. So I’m either measuring wrong or am supposed to get the 5” and torque it down but unsure if that’s even possible. Confused. For anyone with this knowledge, assistance is greatly appreciated.

Likely purchasing this for my night edition mega cab since the one damn thing on the entire truck not black is the exhaust....

I dont know how you got 4.5 but the factory for the 2019-2020 is 4” if you have a 2021 it could be possible they increased the pipe size.....4.5” does exist its just odd ball

I think it’s that old pipe thang I.D O.D estimated. 4‘’ should be good to go. I put a 4’’ MBRP octagonal on my 19 as the stock pipe look drove me nuts! Nothing wrong with adding on an inch or so to a measurement but it’s probably not going to fool anyone :p.

Glad you got the measurement figured out. I thought about painting my pipe with high heat black and then capping with a tip like this

The link I attached is an 18” tip. Really should do a fairly good job at hiding the majority of the “non-black” portion of the exhaust. Figured for $100 I might as well give it a shot.

Lol got to measure top to bottom on a miter cut, i assumed that was known
Just so everyone knows....I got the 4” inlet pipe today and it does not fit. 5” is in fact the correct size for the 2021’s it appears.

If you look at the entire pipe is it 5” the whole way to the dpf?

Thanks for sharing this. Saved me some painful returns.

Did you end up getting the 5" and it worked? If so, can you send a link to what you got?

Of course man.
Here is the link, as well as a couple of pics. Took a can of black high temp to the rest of the exhaust. Very happy with how it all turned out. Sorry not the best pics, needs a wash.

So did you go with a 5" to 6" or a 5" to 7"?
