There was a big thread about dash cams somewhere id do a searchAnyone was able to find where to connect dashcam so it will go off when truck is off and on when running?
You sure? I thought I seen them under steering wheel last time I was there. There are no "fuses" inside the cab on an HD.
I was thinking the same. But I would like the dashcam to get power even when the truck if off. After failing to find any fuses inside the cab of my truck I tapped into wires in my overhead console.
I found the thread. Did look before but it seems I should have went through more pages of the search. There is a whole thread on how to get power to a dashcam on here, but it’s possible to do what you want in a short answer. If you have AUX switches in cab then it becomes even easier. If not, you can get BATT by running to a wire down one pillar and IGN down the other pillar. This will give you the functions you want out of the dashcam.
No worries. I got some pointers from someone on here that I’ll share if you want. Like I said, AUX switches make it a dream to complete. I have my dashcam hardwired, and love it. It is possible without the switches, you just have to run those wires separate.I found the thread. Did look before but it seems I should have went through more pages of the search.
I do have AUX switches. But I seen somewhere there is a power at both side pillars. I would have to investigate more.No worries. I got some pointers from someone on here that I’ll share if you want. My cam - a BlackVue 770x-2channel - gets both switched power and constant 12VDC from connections in the overhead console.I was thinking the same. But I would like the dashcam to get power even when the truck if off.
Of course I know that now !There are no "fuses" inside the cab on an HD.
How did you do that?My cam - a BlackVue 770x-2channel - gets both switched power and constant 12VDC from connections in the overhead console.
This video shows the wires you need to tap into:How did you do that?
My model is a tradesman and that overhead console doesn't have all the functions like the one in the video. This video shows the wires you need to tap into:
