It’s back from the dealership, $2953 for new DPF, differential pressure sensor and two hoses. It went to the shop with 235,789 miles and the regen in progress. Received it back with 235,790 miles still in regen. Overall it was much quieter. Only 12 miles to the house and it was still in regen when I arrived. Walking around the truck checking out the burning smell, as I passed the tailpipe the exhaust almost cinged the hair on my legs. It hasn’t been that hot for some time now. This morning I went for a 70 mile loop for comparison. Good so far, fuel mileage is up and power is back. No explanation as to why it failed so young. My last two trucks, 2012 and 2016, were traded in with 440,000 miles and never had emissions problems. Probably could have spent the same money to delete it with no guarantee that it would work hard every day without any problems. New DPF installed by dealership has 24 month/unlimited miles warranty. I haven’t owned this truck that long, so it stands to reason that by the time I trade it in it will still have warranty. Just don’t like dropping three large for repairs. 625 miles scheduled for tomorrow, keep you posted if all is good.
