What did you do TO your RAM today?

After a year of ownership I finally got around to installing some side steps. I didn’t have a problem with the climb in height but my wife and my son are both shorter than I am and I heard their complaints. Happy wife, happy life. The steps, mounting brackets, and all of the hardware are all stainless steel. The winter road salt in my area will drastically reduce the lifespan of regular steel steps.View attachment 7249View attachment 7250
She's still looking fine after a yr of ownership.

My BAK Flip MX4 finally arrived. My boy and I got it installed in no time at all. Only thing I still have to do is run out and grab heavier duty weatherstripping for the bulkhead as the cheap stuff they send refused to adhere to the spray-in bed liner.

I’ve never seen a custom tailgate badge like that, very cool. Thank you for your service.

Mind sharing the manufacturer of your steps.

Added all the plastic bits from a Power Wagon in order to get proper fit of the mud flaps. Installed Gibson exhaust and had to have the end of the exhaust pipes bent and shortened to clear the Power Wagon plastic bits.

Wouldn’t happen to have an audio clip of the Gibson, would you?

I hate that my big 6.4 is quieter than the 2.0 I had on my last VW.

It wasn't the easiest project I have done. Once you center everything (I used two pieces of 1/4 inch rubber to space it to the grill) and mark the holes in the top of the bumper, drilling was easy. Ended up drilling to 1/2 inch and I used some grade 8 zinc coated bolts I had. The hard part was getting the nuts on the outer bolt holes. I removed the fog light covers and used a mechanical finger to start the ny-lock nuts. Snaking a wrench into the opening wasn't too bad. The inner bolts and nuts closest to the center of the bumper were not too bad. I snaked my hand up through the center of the bumper and tightened everything down. I have a light bar coming this week to mount on the two remaining tabs. Breaks the front end up. That is the part I like. This truck has been a blast!View attachment 7081
Mounted my light bar today. Had some help too!

What a beautiful dog !!! I see in your signature block you have a custom platform in the rear of the cab for your dogs, would you mind sharing the details or a pic? I’m trying to figure out what I can do to make it a little more comfy for our dog.

Thanks for the compliment. These two dogs are my partners. I folded the back seat up and just built a platform that fits the back area. I then covered it with outdoor carpet. Where you can see under the platform is now covered with a piece of darker carpet that matches the floor carpet. I’ll snag a couple of pics tomorrow when I wash it. I bought two of the back seat cradle covers from TJMaxx to protect the seats. The platform is leveled by using stacked blocks of 2x4’s. Also bought some door panel protectors from Amazon. All in all it works great. When they are not in the cage in the back, they are in the cab with the wife and myself. I need to start a build page.

Looks awesome. I wasn’t to sure after your first pics without the bar but the final results are excellent! It even matches the rounded Upper part of the grill. Good looking helper, reminds me of my dog Molly I had once.

Thanks for the compliment. Our first dog was Molly the Lab. What a nut! Lived to be 14. She thought her name was SOB for the first 3 years. I still think about her. Best fishing partner I ever had. We need to start a RAM Dog Thread, “Show us your RAM Riding Dogs!”

Took the RAM badges off the doors. FCA is very proud of them (as noted by the Rebel series yelling it in your face when you look at the tailgate). Lots of glue. Took my best efforts to get it all off with no scratches or trace. What a pain.

Makes the Cummins badge stick out more. Still on the fence about the 4x4 OffRoad decal in the back. I wasn't fond of it on white trucks where it stood out but on this Granite color it blends ok. I'm used to the 4x4/Offroad decal look at the rear bed side for Chevy/Ford since the late 80s (89 Chevy was the first I think), but not used to it at all on a Dodge/RAM. Don't know if I can get used to it. I'll have to decide soon before the sun imprints it in the clear.

De-badged mine as soon as I brought it home. Still have the 4X4 on the tailgate. May keep it. Granite is an awesome color. My Jeep is the same color.

Swapped in bilstein shocks all around.
Bilstein 5100 front for 2 inch lift - 24-251747
Bilstein 5100 rear - 33-238555

I installed my spare tire lock. I bought it quite a while ago but I couldn’t install it until o got my jack, as you have to drop the tire to replace the shaft with the lock. By the way, it is now much easier to find the shaft through the hole in the bumper. The original is the 3/8” square shaft that you have to find and get lined up in the dark (under the bed). Now I’ve got a large tube that is easy to see. The actual lock key is at the far end of the tube. Much easier.

@Dr__Bob Can you share a link to the lock you purchased for the spare tire? Thanks!

I've got the same thing in mind - how do you like the ride so far? Better? Worse? How does the truck sit, level or with a slight rake?

With a 2 inch level on a 3500 there is a very slight rake, like half inch difference from front to back. I’ll drive it for a little bit over the next week and let you know if the shocks made any difference in ride. I did put Hankook AT2 on there in 325/65r18s. They measure 34.6 tall and 12.9 wide, I run them at 45 PSI front and back when not towing (45 front and 60 rear when towing.) The tires made quite the difference over the Firestone’s.
