I'll chime in the K&N air filter debate... As an old hot rodder since the 1980's, I ran K&N filters on everything from `65 GTO making 500+hp to a '93 Taurus. I always got increases in power and gas mileage. Loved them!
Then a couple of years ago, I found this channel on YouTube called Project Farm. The guy is a farmer in Iowa who tests products and equipment and comes up with ingenious ways to do real world testing. He has 3.6 million subscribers and I try and find one of his reviews on something before I buy it. His results in testing are pretty much spot on and backed up by real world results and other tests done by engineers and scientists.
So I watched his review of air filters when deciding which one to buy for my new Jeep. He tested Fram, AC Delco, Purolator, Wix, and K&N.
After watching it, I will never put another K&N or similar oiled cotton gauze filter in anything. Yeah, they flow more and help make more power, but they let in a huge amount of grit and crap that will wear your engine out much sooner...
K&N air flow...
0-60 times...
How many large pieces of grit each filter let pass into your engine...
Try putting some 10 inch ramps up front . Someone on this forum recently posted that he did it and it worked it should give you 4-5 inches more due to the angle.
I need to do it soon too![]()

Front and rear diffs today. 35k. Fluid was fine. Had to chase threads of a few bolts/holes on the rear. #loveyourback

The change interval is 22.5K for frequent towing and frequent isn’t defined.
The OEM fluid is junk, IMO, and I wouldn’t let it go 35-40K on an empty highway queen.
I definitely agree that the factory fluid is garbage. The truck definitely feels a little smoother if that makes any seat of the pants sense. Really makes me wonder how the eight speed lifetime fluid is gonna work out.

What is the thread and pitch for those holes ?I need to do it soon too
If you get it on your clothes you are better off throwing them away or burning them.I can smell this picture
Definitely too many miles on the OEM gear lube if you can feel a difference.
The ZF fluid change interval is 60,000 miles in the owners manual.

Was it the threads themselves or just a bunch of sealant or loctite? My threads all had a bunch of unidentified pink schmoo in them8x1.25

Mine had a lot of thread sealer in them also on the rear differential. The one behind the tracking bar on the right near the top was glued in.Was it the threads themselves or just a bunch of sealant or loctite? My threads all had a bunch of unidentified pink schmoo in them
Couple of questions. Do you need gaskets for the covers or are they the reusables? Second, why 75W-90 when the factory calls for 75W-85? Any benefit there? Asking as I live in Arizona and might hot here now.![]()

Factory uses orange RTV. When I pulled my cover I used a Lubelocker gasket. Easy and no mess. RTV gives me turretsDo you need gaskets for the covers or are they the reusables?
