AlfaOBD

The directions for the KAODTECH cable state it must be removed before taking the truck to a dealership for service. I let the dealer do oil changes and rotates because at this point in my life it works out better. No I don’t care for the fact that the lowest paid guy is wrenching on my truck but they’ve treated me well thus far. Do I have to remove this cable for that? I really only bought it to lower TPMS thresholds. I suppose I could make my changes and put things back to “stock”.

What are others doing? Thanks

I remove mine because i don’t want it documented to void my warranty for some reason. Plus it only takes a minute to disconnect and reconnect. Just pop out the headlight control and you can see fine to access the bcm.

I guess I would be concerned that the dealer might use the presence of the cable as an excuse to deny warranty. Not saying the dealer would do that, but not all dealers are on the side of the truck owner. Honesly, the cable is so easy to install, I would not take that chance. I just trimmed off the two locking tabs so it disconnects easily.

You don't have to put anything back to stock, just remove the bypass cable before you take it in. You can even leave the bypass cable installed but remove the OBDII portions of it so it's not detected. Highly unlikely anyone will even hook up to the computer for an oil change, let alone look under the dash.

Ok, pretty much was my thought. Returning things to stock was just removing the cable but not the settings. Looks like I can leave the CAN plugs in and just get the OBD plugs out of sight. Thanks all.

The guy on the lube rack probably won't have a clue. However if there happens to be a recall or computer update, they might access the OBD connector. Still, I would not risk it. Just too easy to take out and install when you want to make changes. If I take my truck in for service of some sort (I do my own maintenance), I leave all the changes I have made intact but take the bypass cable out.

When I had warranty I always left mine hooked up to the can bus block but zip tied the OBD end up under the steering column. A couple warranty things required the dealer hooking up to the truck and nothing was ever said.

I've done both, no issues so far. The cables are easy to hide in the wiring mess.

My dealer's service writers plug into the OBD port and do some basic WiTech pull every time they check a vehicle in. I expect they want to record the module firmware numbers. Oil change only? doubt it.

As long as the bypass isn't active, I'd say don't worry about it.

If you want to easily remove it, shave down the catch clips on the plugs some so it's easier to pull. Go through the headlight panel port to see what you're doing when you give it a reach around to pull it out.

Anyone heard anything about when the next AlfaOBD update will be dropping? I want to throw my 2023 digital cluster back in the truck, but I've been waiting for hopefully the next AlfaOBD update that will maybe have the ability to correct the mileage on the newer digital cluster.

I doubt he’ll ever bother with adding mileage correction for the digital cluster. That means he has to source a truck with the digital cluster, and find a tool that CAN correct the mileage on the digital cluster so he can recreate what that tool is doing in his app.
Basically the same reason he hasn’t added the PIN pulling procedure for the 2019+ Rams either.

I use Jscan and so far i haven’t found or heard of anything it can’t do. The only downside i have noticed is when making changes like when i swapped out my headlights for oem leds the instructions on how to make changes found in this forum don’t translate 100 percent because they are written for alfa. The settings are the same you just have to search to find it or ask on here and someone will answer.
I use JScan and would like to change my headlights from halogen to factory LED. Do you remember the settings I need to change inside of JScan?
Thanks in advance….Richard

I am trying to update my 3500 after my Titan fuel tank upgrade.
In what part of the vehicle do I find this option to change the fuel capacity.
I have a Autel Max Ultra scan tool.
I tried to look today but fooked it up, my truck thinks its got a duel fuel tank now that needs servicing LOL so my low fuel is flashing although its half and the engine light is on but I think the engine light is something to do with my booboo

Anyone figure out a working solution for disabling auto cornering lights yet for people with aftermarket fogs like Bajas?

Hey all, went through all 78 pages and have a new question. I haven't purchased AlphaObd yet, but am planning on it along with the vLinker MC+;

Couple of questions.

1. I currently have an EzLynk 3.0 cable installed, it works as it should. I assume it should work for the Vlinker/AlphaObd ????

2. Main reason for purchase. 2020 2500 Laramie, After bigger tires and Lift I ran into errors "FCW/ACC/LaneSense Unavailable, service required" After much research I think I know the issue and want to know if Aplha can do what I need, This is a "fix" that has been posted and I've read similar issues:
"Dealer was able to reprogram computer by swapping a pair of stock tires from the lot and reprogamming the ride height to 1099mm. The threshold held by RAM in currently 1100mm. They are unsure what triggered the truck to suddenly calibrate a ride height o 1168mm after 6months of being on the road with the same new lift kit (RC 6") and were perplexed as to how to fix it using traditional methods."

I searched through this thread and the rest of the forums and couldn't find anything. I have the OBDLink LX.
I can't connect to any of the modules in the list that have the little adapter symbol and the "Use MS-CAN blue adapter" text. Am I missing something? Was able to go through the BCM with no issues.

LX can’t switch the OBD bus pins on its own (needs an adapter to physically do it with wiring). MX+, EX, and vlinker MC or MC+ can all switch buses automatically with no adapter.
