Automatic Regen too often

Picked my truck up from the dealer last Friday. I told them when I dropped it off that it did a regen on the way there and it is noted on the paperwork. They say they drove it and were unable to duplicate. It also says they inspected it and showed the dpf soot level was 0%. Well about 10 miles down the road after I picked it up it went into regen again.

My oil was well over the safe mark so I changed it before our trip on Friday. Only had 5,400 miles on the oil. I pulled the camper 550 miles this weekend and it still did a regen yesterday. Then this morning when I left the house the gauge was on 0. After 20 miles on the highway it shot up to just under half and went into regen again. I am now at 10 regens In the last 38 engine hours.

Did you save the old oil? If so I'd get a Fleetguard test from Genos garage, and send it in. It's about $30, and was another arrow in my quiver when it came back with 10% fuel dilution. Your story sounds eerily similar (almost exact) to mine.

Yep I did and I was planning to do that. I didn’t know Geno’s did that so I’ll get it to them. Thanks

There's an app you can download to get same day results (same day they run the tests), and it stores/ organizes them if you ultimately do regular tests at oil change intervals. It's called horizon.

Typical dealership bull, Have the advisor ride with you and drive the truck like you normally do. I have found when they test drive my truck it is open freeway at 60mph and variable load or speed. I have taken my truck from the dealership with them saying "FIXED" to have it in Regen cycle right away. The new dealership i am at is at least honest and say they dont know if it is fixed and only so much driving they are allowed to do. I just bring it back once its in regen and they start over, Keep track of all your data and timeline on all events. I started my own Thread on my truck just to keep time stamps on events and data.

Cannot see in/out mileage on the ticket. Did they test drive it?

They said they drove it and couldn’t duplicate the issue.

Do you think you can re-trigger the check engine light? its about 3 triggered regens within 60miles each. I haven't been able to pin point the miles but its close to that. if they can not reproduce the issue do it for them. make sure you get everything in email and do not just talk to them verbally. Every time they said they couldn't reproduce it i just came back with the light on and now they finally believe me.

How many miles did they drive it?

If the miles between regens is predictable, maybe you can bring it back just before you know it'll regen so it will regen while they have it. Easier said than done, I know.
I’m not sure they didn’t say. They just said they can’t fix it until there is CEL for it.

Mine has never had any lights come on. He told me to try and trigger it by shutting it off while it’s doing a regen. I actually have already done that three times today. I usually always let it finish but it wasn’t done when I got to work so I just shut it off. Then I ran a couple miles to get lunch and it started again and I shut it off when I got there, then it started again on my way back to work and and I shut it off. So we’ll see

Try hooking up to a trailer and tow in town. Go light to light and up some small hills.

I've noticed a number of posts regens are better in cool temperature. I wonder if there's a way to trick the ECM into thinking it's cooler out and would it help?
