Too much oil and poor dealer help

Fellas. Admitting you have a problem is step 1, right?!? Hahaha let’s see what happens. I’m always optimistic.
Correct. This is how the Aisin K1 snap ring issue started and ultimately was expanded, ending up with a full customer satisfaction campaign and an NHTSA investigation.

This is the first step in the right direction for both the company and the owners.

Am I missing something? I can not see the attachment
No I removed the post. Have to wait until it’s released publicly. Shame we have to tippy toe around. But hopefully it will get publicly released soon.

To give you the brief synopsis:

Ram released a new TSB 25-005-24 for trucks experiencing P2459 frequent regeneration issues. So they’re finally acknowledging it’s enough of a problem to warrant a bulletin. Hopefully it’ll get expanded. Only applies to 2022 and 2023 model years built between 8/1/22 and 5/1/23 right now.

Hang on… tippy toe around who? Someone from Stellantis say something? And if so, why are we complying to suppressing info that IS technically public (anyone can get a subscription to see, and print the tsb). When is it considered public, when NHTSA posts it, usually about a month or two after tsb’s are released?

So I won't get any help with my truck built in April of 22 - what a load of crap - if I am not towing, I can't get beyond 175 miles between regens in the warmer months and 250 in the cooler months. Tired of changing my oil early to avoid fuel dilution and what this fixed.

As I said before, I’m willing to bet it gets expanded.

No, no one said anything to me yet. I removed the post preemptively.

It’s the disclaimer at the bottom that’s the concern. Usually these things are posted on NHTSA’s manufacturer communications page, but this particular TSB is very new. I didn’t want to cause any issues with the company. Now that I’m on the admin team here, I have to make sure that what I’m doing doesn’t jeopardize the forum, or its mission, and I respect that. I discussed the options with the admins and it we collectively agreed it was best to remove it until such time as the information is publicly listed. To be honest, there’s really not much information on the TSB anyway. If the truck is a 2022 or 2023 built between 8/1/22 and 5/1/23, and it’s popping P2459, it gets a new DOC / DPF assembly.

(Which will probably only result in a temporary rectification of the P2459 anyway, since dealerships have been throwing DPF’s at this problem for over a year)

My hope is that this will end up being the first step in a larger campaign with better resolutions as time moves forward.

The problem is the wear and tear on the other components while the main issue is not fixed. But progress none the less.
Agree.

Unfortunately, this is the way manufacturing operates today. It isn’t just Ram, it’s a systemic culture in most all of the large corporate industries today. I have a John Deere recall sitting on my desk for my uncles 1025R sub compact utility tractor. There’s a component quality issue with the brake system that can cause it to completely lose its brakes without warning. Deere says “stop use immediately” and schedule an appointment with your dealer for repair. Called my dealer and they’re being told by corporate “no parts currently available to satisfy the recall, expected ship date of parts is mid-October at the earliest.”

They're all too big to care and they’ve all lost sight of the people that helped build their empires.

My personal truck is proof and when I started a Ram care case for my work truck. Same sob story as my first one started blah blah..blah. blah. I told Ram care that I've been down this path before and you might want to get your manager in the loop. It's going to be a long bumpy ride if your going to give me the run around.

100% they could care less about the average guy. They have enough cash back to out weigh you in court. They will lose 100% but you have to get to court first and thst could be $10k-$30 in lawyer fees. They will just kick this all down the road till it goes big class action 5 years from now.

mine has been trowing the code as well and fuel in the oil been in dealer 3 weeks now there replacing a map sensor and new air filter and giving it back to me can’t see it fixing the crazy amount of regens but we will see I’ll keep you informed but mine is a 21 so I guess they won’t replace my dpf

When you go pick it up, tell them about the TSB that just came out for the 22-23 trucks. It will surprise them that you already know about it and may help motivate them to report higher up that the 2021s have the issue also. That's my plan for when I take mine in next week.

do you know the build date of your truck? Curious if its close enough to a 22 to possibly have something in common with a 22. my 21 was a early build had had no issues. and you really dont hear alot of 21's having problems.

Mine was delivered in April 2021 after custom ordering it a couple months earlier, and it for sure has the excessive regen issue.

yea i know it happens, mine was thankfully a great 2021. I figured yours was a 22. i know i hear nonstop issues with 2022s, not as much with 21's. i would be interested in seeing how many 21's have issues as well. I hope my 24 holds up as well as my 21 did.

i wish we could get a 21, 22 and i Dunno, a 18 and see what is changed between the 3. id love nothing better to disassemble and compare each year just to compare what's different.
