Official 2025 Ram HD

Have to say that I really dislike those, IMHO, god awful ugly hoods. And is that scoop on them functional? If not, what is the point? I have always thought that fake hood scoops are one of the most ludicrous things ever. The grills are no longer a strong point. I am a big fan of symmetry in vehicle design. The Rams are starting to look almost as bad as the Chevy front ends. The interiors are still top notch. But why do most trim levels only have black for the interior? I know some say its because it does not show dirt. Doesn't anyone actually clean their interiors? Black interiors are such a great choice (insert sarcasm here) for the southern hot weather states! And lastly, it is a real shame that you can no longer get the 6.4 Hemi V8 in a MegaCab or the higher trim levels. I don't see how that saves Stellantis much if any money. They are manufactured on the same assembly line as the lower trim levels, which you can get the gas engine. Basically telling anyone who wants a luxury truck with a gas engine to go elsewhere. The Cummins is a great engine. But with todays emissions, need for DEF and regen issues, I would not get the diesel unless I absolutely needed a diesel. And to be clear, most who get the diesel don't actually need it, especially in the 2500 where payload is very low and you can't fully use the diesel to its capability. Stellantis is just killing CDJR. So sad!!!

This right here. This effectively puts me out of the market for any 2023+ HD Ram, and I’m sure you and I aren’t the only ones like this.
I never bought into the “take rate” excuse they told dealers to convey to the customers. They gambled on raising msrps (which he admitted), and figured people that wanted limiteds would say screw it and pay the extra for Cummins. Well, now with sales tanking year over year, and inventory exploding, they should “take” whatever configurations people want to order, even if it’s the “low take rate” people that want higher trim levels without a Cummins.

As much as I love tech, and as much as I want to see cool tech in these trucks, I have close to 0 faith in FCAs ability to build quality tech. We are going on 6 MYs without full screen AA, even while Carplay is supported. Some of the basic tech is well supported, but the newer the tech, the more finicky it is, again in my opinion.
Pretty much all of the new tech/CAN architecture has been in use since the wagoneer and grand Cherokee L came out a few years ago, and now the 2025 1500, and they got that pretty dialed in (as far as reported issues on those forums). The “phone as a key fob” feature should go live any week now for the 2025 1500, so we’ll see how that works out, but the digital keys are working fine.
Still no full screen android auto though, at least until 2026MY.

Hideous. Now the fourth ugly truck on the market behind the Silverado HD, new Tacoma, and Sierra HDs.

Phone as a FOB on the wife's new 2024 KIA requires newer Androids. We have S10+ and S9 so it's a no-go. To share the digital key requires the source phone be setup and the "same phone" as the target if you need to share the key. WTH?

Came with a digital key card, at least that works after setup. So it's RFID/NFC which our phones have, but not supported. Guess the NFC tech/specs has changed some. Huh.

This.

This should be the business model moving forward. Let the customer design the truck as they see fit and build it to their spec. Cut out the ridiculous packages, drop the massive unsold dealer inventories, and build the truck the customer wants. Some tweaks to overall designs and make parts interchangeability easier. You want a regular cab 3500 dually in Longhorn trim? No problem.

They would sell a lot of trucks.

If my 2020 had a telescopic steering wheel, keyless entry and a tailgate step with grab pole like the 4'd, it would be my forever truck. The 2025 Ram doesn't move the needle for me. As for the other brands, had them and I am not going back.

What’s not “full size” about the seat in the CC trucks?

The flat floor in the 5th gen can and new Fords and Chevys is nice and definitely bigger, but to say the Crew Cab HD is not “full size” is silly.

Simple. The rear seat isn’t full size across the entire seat. The middle seat is horrible for an adult on any trip that is longer than going to the grocery store one town over. I regularly make 500+ mile one way trips with five people in the truck. No person wanted to sit in the middle seat until I got my megacab.

The rear leg room is a full 3 inches less than the megacab and the ford and Chevy rear seats as well. Not too mention it doesn’t have a flat floor.

The CC is not competitive anymore. The megacab is competitive, but then you are limited to the short bed. Which, by the way, is also the smallest short bed compared to ford and Chevy.

It is fugly as all hell. What’s worse is that while Mercedes figured out how to hide a radar unit behind decorative trim more than 20 years ago, Stellantis cannot figure it out. So it’s just bam, right there and square.

With that new CAN architecture coming, tuning will be likely impossible for anything 2025+. If anything comes forth, it will likely need a bench flash.

I was curious and had to check, you can still get a Ford/GM high trim level HD with a gas engine. Seems odd that Ram would drop it for the 2500/3500?

I thought I had read a rumor that they were dropping the Megacab completely?

Yes, even the base XL Ford truck gets a relatively new 6.8L gas engine. When you go up in trim the base engine becomes the 7.3L gas with 10 speed auto and 4.30 axle is an option with an e-locker. Ram isn't even in the same league anymore. That's what I've been trying to say. A lot of guys are going back to gas because they're doing the math. Ram is really missing a golden opportunity here.

At least it's a start. I have hopes that one day it will work normally. I can't stand the push button thing. It serves no purpose if I still have to carry a FOB. Can't tell you how many times I get to my car to go to lunch and realize my key is in my bag in my office...lol out of sight, out of mind.

Also - I'm wondering how it interfaces w iPhones. Maybe just a case of the programming specifically for the iPhone and android takes a while for the bugs to work out...wouldnt be the first time for that.

It won’t be an actual app on the phone itself. The phone will be paired to the digital key wallet through the Ram Connect app. That phone pairing app inside of Ram Connect is what should be going live in the next few weeks.

I'd assume that the case. Just like the key card is just held on the passive entry handle, and placed on the wireless charger (in the Kia).

Probably won’t happen until they update the cab. Assuming they go with the 5th gen cab from the 1500 sometime in the next couple of years I could see the megacab going away. The 5th gen cab is several inches longer and the rear seat legroom is pretty impressive.

You would miss out on the behind the seat storage the megacab offers, but that’s about it.

The reclining rear seats are great.
