I wonder if anyone can help me get my code for my 2022 ram 2500 for the security gateway. My dealer wants to charge me 40 bucks to give it.

What "code?"

The only PIN needed for anything is a 5 digit PIN used to program Key FOBs with JScan, and JScan pulls the PIN.
If I want to use alpha obd on my 22 I have to take apart the cluster to install the bypass harness. I understand there’s a code that dealers should give out to owners if requested. Am I wrong/does this code not work to access it with Alphaobd?

First, you don't need a code to access the BCM with AlfaOBD.

Second, you only need a security bypass cable to WRITE changes.

Third, you're using the wrong cable if you remove the EVIC to plug into the SGM. For the HD trucks, we use a cable that connects to the CAN-C and CAN-IHS bus blocks behind the headlight switch.

You are correct right up until the 2022 model year HDs. I followed an in depth video of someone plugging into a connector behind the headlight switch. Mine did not have that. I had to get a cable that has two connectors on a pigtail to OBD.

Now this would be pretty embarrassing if I’ve been wrong this whole time but I remember trying everything and ending up buying the pigtail and taking out the cluster.

Nope 2019-2024 is the same all the way. No need to remove the cluster just plug into the can bus. Youtube videos are not always right

Perhaps my research wasn’t extensive enough. I’ll see if I can find some more information. Would very much like to never take my cluster apart again. Like when they reflash everything at the dealer every time there’s a recall.

I believe you can move the wiring enough to have the plug able to be accessed under the dash so if you already have that bypass you can just move the wiring

Pull the headlight switch bezel and tell me you don't have the CANBUS blocks behind them, on the left side, between the dash and firewall.

Did you read the AlfaOBD thread in post #4 I linked?

PLEASE review at least the first post in that sticky. It has all the links for what is needed.

A proper bypass cable
AlfaOBD (or JScan)
A decent ELM327 OBDII reader like the vgate vlinker MC+ or OBD-USB cable if using a Windows laptop

Is my harness different than the one you posted? I don’t see the two pigtails going in

You didn't post a picture of your harness so how would we know?

By your description, I suspect your have the 12+8 cable that's used in the 1500's. That's not the correct cable for the HD trucks as several of us have repeatedly stated.

If you get the Kaodtech bypass cable, pay attention to the color of the wires and not the color of the connectors. The one I got, I had to plug the black connector into the white bottomed Can bus and the white connector into the black one.

There are 2 security gateway cables plugged in behind the speedometer. unplug them and i hope you have small hands and plug them into your red cable. then hook up your programmer and your good to go.

Am jumping in on this as I have a Autel KM100 key programmer abd just received the KAODtech Security bypass cable

I think I had my cable back word which is why it may not have worked not that I am seeing this thread.

I had the Black connector in the closest can bus and then white in the one closest to the firewall
Seeing the pictures of the yellow and blue wired (white connector) closest to me I am wondering if that was my issue on why I couldnt get it to connect
I have my phone on the charger at the moment so once it is charged enough for me to post a picture I will

This is the cable I have and the errors I was getting

I think it was. Look at the bottom of the canbus terminal. One has a white base and one has a black base. On mine the white based one is closest to the firewall and the other one has the black base. The pink and green wires go to the white one and the blue and yellow goes in the one closest to the dash.

The connector colors were reversed on mine also.
