Automatic Regen too often

If they can’t provide evidence that they did indeed send the injectors out to be tested, or they performed one of a few different fuel related tests on the truck in the shop, I would have a hard time taking their word on it. 10% fuel dilution in under 3k miles doesn’t happen by chance alone, and I’d also have a really hard time believing that much fuel came from regeneration unless the truck lived in a perpetual state of regeneration that entire 3,000 miles….and even then, I would find it hard to digest. How many miles are on the truck currently?
When i dropped it off it was at about 27,600 miles.

I agree with your assessment. I have messaged that I want a print out of everything that was done to the truck including evidence of the fuel injector and HPFP testing. I sent that about 2.5 hours ago with no response. I highly doubt they would've sent the injectors off and gotten them back in less then 48 hours

Still no response to my records request. At this point I'm sure they're closed for the day, but you'd think in the 9 hours they have business hours a phone call wouldn't take much effort.

I'm incredibly suspicious of this dealer now. Suddenly when I request detailed records after being told they tested the HPFP and injectors...nothing but crickets

Reminds me of asking for a tire rotation last time. It was in the return notes, but the tires were exactly where they were when I dropped the truck off. Verified by marks and the variance in pressure front and rear.

Your truck is doing the exact same thing as mine. Yesterday they found the crank case seal leaking. I told them I didn't want it back until it was driven again and they can prove regen is within "normal manufacturer's expected range".

Handing a vehicle back with replacement parts, knowing it full well is regenerating at 20-30 miles is what has gotten the vehicle to its current state.

Well, I will preface this by saying i haven't had time to read all 39 pages of this discussion, but i probably have read half of it.

I am certainly having the frequent regen issue on my 2022 - it's happening once every 100 miles, unless i tow - it might stretch to 150. The issue i am having is that i can't even convince the dealer that there is anything wrong. They aren't seeing the frequent regen code, and to them no code = no problem. I opened a case with ramcares, but the guy on the phone pretty much echoed the "no code = no problem" line the dealer gave me. Any thoughts on where to start? I asked if i track my regens and can show that they happen once every 100 miles, will they at least admit there is a problem, and they said no, not until it throws a P2549. Is it even reasonable for the truck not to throw a P2549 while going into regen that frequently?

I have 68k miles on the truck, I will try cleaning MAP/MAF sensors in hopes that it resolves the issue. I will keep pushing this with ramcares but i am afraid the only actual solution to this problem is a tuner, a cutoff wheel, and a straight pipe.

Sounds to me like it’s getting to the point where we….collectively….should seek guidance or assistance from a higher authority on this regeneration issue…

I agree, FWIW my brother has a 2022 CTD as well and his truck has it worse than mine. how would one go about starting appealing to a higher authority? and I am assuming you aren't talking about praying :)

I asked my dealer today of there was any solution for this regen issue, and he said there is not.

What did you find out about your truck?
Parts on national backorder, EGR valve went bad, and the cooler is leaking. Gave all info to Ram Cares to see if they can expedite the parts

So an update on mine - hope mbarber, olejoe, etc see this.

Picked mine up today after over 70 days at the dealer. 480 miles put on it since dropped off. 28,080 miles on pick up

The bad - despite nearly 10% fuel dilution they were adamant that it was due to the extremely excessive regens. All they did was a basic pressure test using the computer. No dye, ohm, or sending injectors off for proper testing.

The interesting - he showed me my old dpf and a new one. The old dpf was at least 4" but probably 6" shorter front to back compared to the new one. The new is also completely bolted in with flanges for easy removal and cleaning. Old one was welded - he hadn't had the old one from my truck sent in for testing yet but the exhaust was largely one solid piece. Ram was requesting mine be returned to them for some reason. He said for the 22s that for some reason, likely parts shortages, ram knowingly used inferior parts. In this case DPFs that are not capable of dealing with the soot of the 6.7. This problem is further exacerbated by the German MAFs. He advised the the MAFs screwing up, paired with an undersized DPF - that once the MAF starts sending the wrong readings the undersized DPF cannot catch up even with "normal" regens. They are set up to fail essentially (my words) but greed to push trucks out the door meant they rolled the dice figuring they'd make more profit then any losses by the time most people's emissions warranty ran out. In Oklahoma emissions are 3 years 36k miles. Mine failed in under 28k miles.

Lastly, he point blank said that the new MAF and DPF and most recent flash should solve my issues... we shall see as I plan to do an oil change between 2-3k miles since my 9.3% fuel dilution was at 2700 miles on the oil. Then I will do another OA on that change.

With all that said I'm not happy about the lack of fuel leak testing, but I drove it 375 miles to my old hometown in Kansas for the weekend and will drive home Monday. 375 miles, and the DPF gauge didn't move off 0. Average speed was 72 mph with less then 10 minutes (I clocked) idle time for the drive. I got 19.8mpg hand calculated. Fill before I left and again upon arrival. My hopes are essentially nothing, but maybe some headway has been made. I told them my plans for the next oil change and OA, and that if dilution is high a very unhappy person will be returning with fleetguard OA in hand AGAIN...regardless of if I have a CEL or not

That's interesting if they have updated the DOC/DPF assembly, Could you take a look at the new one they put on for a part number, or it may be on the paperwork? Doing a quick search it appears that 68296341AE is the part number for 2019-2024 trucks.
