Automatic Regen too often

kinda on topic, what setups are you guys using to monitor egt's on everything? I want to get something setup on my rig to monitor everythign that i can and minus what banks has i dont know anything about that stuff. more i can monitor the better at this point. my intake has ports for sensors i can utlize as well.

I saw that and had forgotten all about it. Thanks for the reminder.
I got a long skinny funnel from DG and keep in in the back door pocket on driver side. Put paper towels in both ends and wrapped up in two plastic bags. I keep the additive with me too. Wife can smell a rat fart at 300 yards and she hasn’t complained.

i have a old school tire pressue gage, i just use that to open the flapper. lol.

I've got dual idash gauges with the banks pod thing in the a pillar. Pretty clean IMO and I like it better than the touchscreen things like the Edge or the various tuners with the big touch screens.

There are several monitoring devices that you can buy to monitor your regen activity, for me the trucks DPF gauge is worthless and I think is one of the main problems why folks aren't understanding what the truck is actively doing all the time. I use the ScanGauge III from Linear Logic, and monitor DPF load %, when regen on/off, hours in the 24 hour cycle, two EGT readings, and estimated miles between regens. You can actively see the soot load % go up and down while driving, when in most cases the truck dash gauge isn't showing anything. For me it's really the only way to see what's actively going on, and know when I need to drive it to complete a 24 hour full active regen.

I like the look of the SG3 but could I use one of the blutooth code readers, jscan or torque apps and my phone or tablet ? I’m technology illiterate when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I use OBDLink MX+ and the OBDLink app on my phone. I leave the dongle plugged in and use my phone when I want to monitor something. You can set up custom dashboards using this. Works well.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been wondering about this for a while. I have several iPads that I could use for a dedicated monitor and they would give me a much larger screen.
And basically be wireless.

Oh man, you and black just gave me the plan. i have the phoenix 13.6 inch radio, i can just load the app on there and split screen it and monitor it on that!

I like the ability to know when the truck is going to be doing a regen ahead of time. It creates some anxiety knowing it’s close and having an appointment for something. I haven’t interrupted a regen yet but have come close.

its cool, my air bag app is loaded on there lol. i like the tablet idea as well but i really dont have a spot to put a tablet since they are huge.
If I monitor something with my Android phone, it sits nicely in the slot in the back of the top center dash recess (horizontally).

can you help out and list what PID settings you are using in the OBDlink app to get the DPF regen info?

Sure. The "item" is the PID name in the app. Top wording is what I titled the PID for display. It took some monitoring trial and error to find some of the PIDs I was looking for. There are a bunch with similar titles. The app search function is helpful as you can search for key words in the PID titles.

I can't say about the other devices, the ScanGauge 3 has to plug into the OBD port for power.

That’s why I wondered about the blutooth dongles to keep the wires out of the way.
I run my banks guage stuff off a 2nd OBDII port up behind the dash. I forget which splitter I'm using, but the more expensive ones will fit perfectly in place of the stock OBDII port so you can split it, have your monitor/dongle/etc hidden behind the dash and still have a "normal" OBD2 port. My behind the dash port is also then "unlocked" with the kaodtech bypass so its where I hook up to make changes with alfaobd. Does double duty and I don't have to remove my bypass cable when I do go to the dealer. They've never had a issue hooking up to the "stock" side of the splitter. I just make sure I unhook the banks connection so nothing conflicts while they're hooked up.
