Brighter backup lights?

Just finished wiring my aux reverse lights. I have them wired so they come on in reverse but only when headlights are on or I can use the aux switch to turn them on. I used a 5 pin relay and tied into the trailer wiring harness.

87 is wired to the taillight
87a aux 2 switch
86 reverse lights
85 to ground
30 out to new lights.

Lights are the 7" slim led off amazon.

Houston we have a problem.

Does anyone have the part number for the relays I am missing from the PDC?

I used Baja Designs rear bumper brackets and Nilight 6.5" LED Bars (and Auxiliary Switch #2).

Wired so when shifting to reverse, this will turn on the truck's backup lights and the rear LED light bars. Or, when Aux Switch #2 is activated, only the rear LED light bars are turned on

I just followed your example and used the same lights with the Baja Designs brackets. I decided to keep it simple and only wired them for reverse via the Curt connector and the 5 pin trailer harness. Excuse the pun, but night and day difference.

Now, I know, it's pictures of lights, and honestly, it would probably be best if I did this in near pitch black setting... But, life happens, and this is what we have at the moment. I will be in a better setting for better pictures tomorrow night and will try to remember to take pictures then as well, but I feel that this gives a fairly decent idea of how well they work.

For me, If I need more light to the rear, I just turn my traffic director on to full white, and should that not be enough, I also turn on my remote spotlight. But is is RARE that these two alone don't get the job done. They are more than enough to help when loading the 22' car hauler as well.
I'm sold, noticeably brighter and more streamline/ less noticeable install

How many amps do your Amazon lights pull..? I’m guessing around one amp for both of them, maybe each, so depending on which tail lights that you have, you may get a lamp out or some other lamp warning in the HUD.

Probably no issue with it if you have incandescent bulbs though.

I have no clue why, as it doesn’t hurt anything at all, but wiring relays “backwards” always drives me crazy. Don’t get me wrong, I do it when needed too, but it just seems “off” to do is all.

I understand that. The lights pull 1.5amp and I have the incandescent taillights. I haven't had any warning lights on the HUD.

Got my lights installed a couple weeks ago. I was inspired by @John Jensen, but didn't want them to come on when I shift to reverse so they are only tied into AUX 1.

I used Baja Designs Brackets with Rigid SR-M lights.

I'm very pleased with their performance and have used them for additional camp site light, light by my shop, and even backing up once or twice.A1160335-7DBF-469A-9FFA-2AD5B02661E7.jpeg

Wiring for turning on with the reverse lights.

I may need to point them down a bit.

I need bright backups for plowing. On my last truck I had LED's similar to the Baja ones, square on brackets under the bumper. I'd love to go lower profile with just the narrow light bar type, but curious if anyone has experience with both to compare the brightness? The square ones don't look awful, and the Baja's look even more streamlined, but still it's something hanging under the bumper.

Heres what i made for when plowing just in the hitch i have 2 small 6” bars on my dually but it looks out of place hanging on the bumper so i made this, it works great plus when bumping banks its stays true and less snow packed

I have a set of Federal Signal Micro Pulse Ultra's mounted under the tailgate. They are wired into the reverse circuit and come on in reverse and also when I push the button to come on, but only while the truck is running, or 30 minutes after shut off, or if the battery drops past 12.2VDC.

My wiring is a little more complex than that, but it's the general idea in the end... View attachment 44856
