2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

What IowaPW said.

Go with the Laramie from MD. You will have serious buyers remorse if you stick with the BH in this scenario (more truck for the same price).
I did the same thing. Ordered from the local dealer, and then discovered Mark dodge. Sent them an email and got more truck for thousands less. (Both of my orders were Laramie’s).

Dang it. I feel like I’ve made a mistake ordering the BH now. I’m only a couple of weeks in to it, though. I’m already working with MD, so I requested a comparison quote just to see the price difference.

Where is this MD located and the name of the dealer/sales person? ? I don't want to have to read 500 pages of this thread to find the name of this dealer. Thanks!

That is one heck of a discount. How is he doing that? I asked 12 times for my dealership to come down in price. I asked him who's keeping the $$$ from the discounts that you used to give. He said, that's just the way it is right now.

Someone is keeping a lot of $$$ in their pockets.

Uh yeah, the dealers lol. They’re a volume dealer. More sold units with a smaller margin. I think I’ve read MD is highest volume Ram dealer in the entire country. Something like 400-450 trucks a month? I could be wrong on those figures.

You won't be disappointed dealing with Sandi. Just got off the phone with her .... I'm doing what I originally wanted, a Laramie with all the goodies I wanted for the price of a BH, with some of what I wanted ... around 10,000 off MSRP ... and I live in Mass. I can walk to La. while I'm waiting for it to be built and feel good about it ! email Sandi, [email protected] I'm sure she will give you her number to talk ..

I’m currently working with Renae at MD. She hasn’t responded, yet—but hoping the deal for a Laramie is super close to the price of my ordered BH. However, might be out the $1k to cancel and reorder.

I ordered a well trimmed BH with most of the tech and do not regret it at all. 12" screen, 360 cameras, alpine stereo, and led upgrades along with others. Plus the grille on the BH looks wayyyyyyy better than the Laramie ;)

The grill is minor ... I wanted the interior and creature comforts that come with the Laramie. I got that now, love the leather interior, the full center console with all kinds of storage and a whole lot more.. phone charging station, rear seat console ... just so much I got with the Laramie of over the BH ..

I got everything in my Bighorn minus leather, a sunroof (didnt want it) and the lane keep assist/sonar cruise control (hate these inputs). So if ordered correctly it all fits ok. My main point was dont have buyers remorse on these trucks. They are too damn expensive to be sad about lol.

Just heard back from my local dealer after missing our shipping ETA last week, newest shipping ETA was yesterday (3/7). Definitely seems like Longhorns are taking a little longer compared to the other trims...

Do you think people will custom order more in the future?

I know the global shortage is messing with some order delivery times but this summer/fall I was convinced the car market was heading towards mostly custom orders, similar to Telsa.

I was feeling like dealerships would have demos on the lot for you to see and test drive but then you'd order your car/truck and it would be there a few weeks later. The reason why I was thinking this would be the case is it would cut down on the number of cars just sitting on the lots. I've seen at least 5 dealerships in my area in the last 3 years lose half their inventory to floods, fires, theft, etc. that carrying cost/insurance must be huge and they always end up with a few cars that never sell. They still have trucks on the lot that I looked at this summer..

After ordering my ram and looking at ford/toyota to see they are the same.. I'm not soo convinced of this anymore. Years ago I wouldn't have thought this would work at all because people want to touch stuff before they buy it but people are shifting to relaying more on youtube reviews and buying stuff on amazon, etc.. Telsa appears to have no problem talking people into this model.

Do you think ordering cars will become more normal in the future? I think the wait time would need to be closer to 4 weeks. There also has to be much more transparency to the customer on the status of their orders and expected target dates. Gofastcampers posts their project numbers and shows were each order is in the status. Last month they were showing expected delivery dates by build but no longer publically showing that.
I think this is what the manufacturers want, build to order. I read an article a while back saying that was the future, online automobile ordering. I never thought I'd buy a new vehicle, let alone, order one. I guess a 30 percent markup on used vehicles and a 10 percent discount on a new one was enough to change my mind.

Better trade it now, market is going to crap once we stop importing Russian oil today is announced. If I was ordering a new truck right now, I would eat my deposit and look for a moped. This feels very much like 2008 all over again.
Kinda thinking the same thing. I bought a used half ton in 08. At that time, they couldn't give 3/4 ton gassers away. I should have bought a 3/4 ton then as the cost was very similar to what I paid for the 1/2 ton. Be interesting to see what happens to the market in the coming months.

Just curious what your payload is if it's a gasser?
