2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

I think RamChat got tired of me asking about my order, because it's been "connecting to agent" for 30 minutes :D
You got an EL yesterday, right? Truck is built. If no window sticker, factory hasn't released yet. If you have a window sticker, the factory has released it and it is awaiting shipment.

Yes, $500 deposit, I can handle the hit. I hate to stick it to them, but It should be an easy sell and they should be able to make msrp plus . I had a pretty substantial discount. I did give them a shot to get close to the Laramie price, they couldn't touch it ... or wouldn't.
You gave them a shot and although I would not necessarily expect them to match MD, they should have come down some - if not I would feel free to move and get more for less - its just business.
I had a similar situation - my 2500 was totalled in Hurricane IDA and there were very few 2021s on lot - found a 2500 in Suhplur, La but it had $3k options I did not want - still only one at reasonable price. Only other one in Bunkie, La wanted $5000 over MSRP. Put a $500 deposit on the one in Sulphur then found a less expensive 3500 preferred color and closer optioned in Crestview Fl. Put deposit on the 3500 and Cancelled the Suplhur deal and told them sorry - but they could keep deposit. Then on way to pick up the 3500 got a call - they had sold it out from under me, but would refund that deposit.
I ended up ordering a 3500 exactly like I wanted (almost same as the 3500 in Fl) in New Orleans at Affiliate pricing - several thousand better than Fl truck that was sold out from under me but not as good as MD would have been (I had never heard of MD at the time) - but I decided to stay with my dealer as order was placed and they had been willing to work with me unlike many others who wanted MSRP or MSRP + Market Adj. But if I had known about MD before I ordered, I would not have hesitated to order from them.

Yep, it's JB right now w/o a sticker. I'm working from home today, so I'm able to ping them to pass the time :D

Not sure if that is entirely correct. I’ve had window sticker since 2/20 but stuck in JSLD. Is the truck not released/invoiced until KZ status?

Ordered 2022 Ram 2500 Limited Megacab from Granger, IA with following options. I imagine I should get it by fall. :)

Cummins
Engine Block Heater
Dual Alternators
Anti Spin
5th Wheel Prep
Tow Tech Group
Auxillary Switches (I just like the looks of these better)
Tow Mode Digital RR package
Mopar Bed Step
Off Road Package w/ decal delete
Night Edition
Center Stop Lamp w/Cargo View Camera

I had a 2019 Ram 2500 cummins and loved it but the back seat is a little lacking with kids getting older and bigger. Thought about going with 3500 but was worried about the ride quality and the 2500 Cummins will pull whatever I need to. Driving a Jeep Gladiator till the 2500 gets built and delivered.

I'm moving from a Rubicon to the Power Wagon. I was considering the Gladiator, but needed much more room w/ the kiddos.

As someone on my Instagram said about the Power Wagon: "It's like the Gladiator, but for men." :D

Do you think people will custom order more in the future?

I know the global shortage is messing with some order delivery times but this summer/fall I was convinced the car market was heading towards mostly custom orders, similar to Telsa.

I was feeling like dealerships would have demos on the lot for you to see and test drive but then you'd order your car/truck and it would be there a few weeks later. The reason why I was thinking this would be the case is it would cut down on the number of cars just sitting on the lots. I've seen at least 5 dealerships in my area in the last 3 years lose half their inventory to floods, fires, theft, etc. that carrying cost/insurance must be huge and they always end up with a few cars that never sell. They still have trucks on the lot that I looked at this summer..

After ordering my ram and looking at ford/toyota to see they are the same.. I'm not soo convinced of this anymore. Years ago I wouldn't have thought this would work at all because people want to touch stuff before they buy it but people are shifting to relaying more on youtube reviews and buying stuff on amazon, etc.. Telsa appears to have no problem talking people into this model.

Do you think ordering cars will become more normal in the future? I think the wait time would need to be closer to 4 weeks. There also has to be much more transparency to the customer on the status of their orders and expected target dates. Gofastcampers posts their project numbers and shows were each order is in the status. Last month they were showing expected delivery dates by build but no longer publically showing that.
I think this is the new norm.. stla earnings have been very good the last 2 yrs despite selling less vehicles.. the days of big rebates are gone for a while I think..
In 2007 and 2008 they flooded the dealers with vehicles they couldn't sell . They put alot of dealers out of business and went through bankruptcy themselves.. I don't think they'll make that mistake again but you never know..

I put $500 down....I've wasted $500 in a worse way. I can walk away if they dont want to give me anything. It's either walk away from $500 or walk away with a new truck that cost 1000's more than it would have when I ordered.
Keep an eye on the kbb etc value. Know what it's worth when you walk back in there. With this crazy inflation it may go up in value while you wait..

I submitted an order last week with a local dealer. they offered me a good amount on my 1/2 ton. They quoted me about 10 weeks to get it. I agreed to MSRP, but only because they offered me a few thousand more than other dealers in my area did. Where I live in mid-Missouri, there is hardly any room for negotiation, on anything.

Be careful with your expectation for trading in based on KBB. I am only 1 data point but just went through this. In prep for my soon arriving 2022 3500 I am selling my 2013 2500. The KBB instant cash offer by several dealers in my area was ~$33k while my KBB trade in value report had a range of $38-42k. Every dealer that looked at it balked because it was a manual transmission. They all claimed they had no market for manual and KBB doesn't correctly factor for manual transmission. My wife posted it on FB marketplace for $40k and we had offers out the you know what, and almost a bidding war. She replied to each making sure they knew it was a manual. Each of the offers wanted our truck because it was a manual. Should be finalizing the sale in a day or 2. The bottom line is I believe KBB is overstated as far as what dealers will give you for trade in value. But again I am 1 data point.

My last email from my dealer on 2/22/2022 stated, "You're truck is still in the process as we speak. I know there is a little delay because of the radio, but hopefully they resolve that quick and soon. I will let you know if I see any movement."

I haven't heard a word from him since. I am not sure what he means by radio components, but I did order the 12" touch screen. Is that what is holding some trucks up?

When I submitted my order, my dealer told me to avoid the 12" because they've been having a lot of problems with them. They bought a truck back from a guy because as soon as he left the lot, the radio quit, which meant the HVAC quit, etc. Had 15 miles on it and was bought back by RAM. They have more that are in production that have the issue, so yes I could see that holding it up.

Just like @robbyreneeward said - I went to crypostickers.net and registered my name, VIN, and email. I ordered from MD as well (Renae).
You will get an email from them that looks like this:-

Oh cool!! Looking forward to that!! Thanks!

Yes I’m driving my wife’s Honda while I wait for my truck. It cost me $95 to fill her car today… a Honda. The Ram will be twice that and a third less gas mileage on top of a crazy purchase price. It is going to be one expensive truck. And the state of world affairs seem to be a place of uncertainty. I currently don’t tow anything but I have in the past and figured with the truck we would in the future. Maybe time to rethink all this before I put the cash on the table. Probably just pre-purchase jitters.
I agree but too late for me. I'm thinking about buying another fun machine that's better on gas and park the truck and drive it occasionally or when needed..

Gas prices are officially insane $7.30 a gallon.
Shell Oil Company has always been known for having some of the most expensive fuel products, right along with Cheveron, Mobil and a couple others. I do know that the Shell Station small business owners really get screwed on the process for buying their products for resell which is one of the reasons they are so expensive.
