2022 Ram HD Builds and orders - Post and discuss your TRUCK order here! ** NEW USERS READ POST #1 **

My experience with salesman is 90% of the time is they don't have a clue about what they are selling. Usually the young women salesman are the worst. I won't even talk to a young woman salesman about trucks. Most of the men salesmen aren't much better. I do my homework before I ever go to the dealership and come out looking like a Chrysler rep compared to what they know. The ones that are up front and tell me they don't know much about the trucks, I'll cut them some slack and inform them about their product and see if there is any chance they can help me. The ones that try to BS me I walk away from and tell them not to waste my time. Usually after this confrontation a sales manger gets involved and if he doesn't have time for me one on one he will find me someone that has been there for years and is knowledgeable about their products.
I guess yo can figure out I don't have patience for an uninformed sales man...
I'm in Colorado, but honestly I'll travel wherever to get the best deal.
Sandi is great responds quickly you will be happy

So sad they those sales people are being paid and work with their product every day. Why is this a universal truth in the automotive industry? Every time I car shop I know about 100 times as much as any sales person I deal with. I'm not a techy nerdy guy either. I just read stuff on the manufacturers web page and then I read online reviews and learn the scoop. Most dealers have less than 7-8 models they should know. Is this too much to ask? Do they get ANY training. Sigh.

You should see what Stellantis is wanting them to do to get paid, nothing to do with selling vehicles.

Hi All,
My 2022 Ram 3500 Laramie DRW was delivered to the dealer on 25 Jan.
I wanted the same truck I had (2020 SRW SO, just needed the DRW and wanted the HO) but the chip shortage created some issues. At the time I ordered, the packages available on the Laramie were "level C or D". They were not offering the towing tech package (which I had on the 2020). I think they have reverted back to level A & B and now will do builds with towing tech for the Laramie (but only have checked this on the build site, not with a dealer.)
So here are the differences:
no blind spot monitoring, no side view cameras thus no overhead surround view (I thought BSM was part of the safety group, but must be part of the towing tech.)
I had to order the cargo camera separately
No power fold mirrors (this is specified in the Level D)
No power adjustment for the spotter mirror, just the primary mirror (AAARGGGH-I loved that feature)
New truck has the uconnect 5...it is taking some getting used to, but once I get it all set up, I think I will like it.
New truck has the digital rearview mirror...my initial impression is it is a great addition.
I think that is about all. If I think of anything else.

The two features I really miss are the overhead surround view and the power adjustable spotter mirrors. I pull a 5th wheel so BMS was disabled anyway. In retrospect, I probably would have just gone up a trim level to get these features, but it didn't really sink in at the time I ordered. My SRW axle was not robust enough for the camper I tow and I wanted to get the new truck ASAP. My sense of urgency simply caused me to not think thru all the details of leaving these features off.

I hope this helps. It may be a non-issue if they changed the ordering configurations back to what they had always been.

Happy and safe motoring!

I left off the 5th wheel prep, Blind spot and the cameras thinking that might hold up my order. I can always install my own Gooseneck later if it is needed. I can live without the BSM and the Cameras, although the cargo camera would have been nice. Not a big deal. Truck was ordered 12-11-21 and built 1-17-22. I must have left off the correct items from the order for it to be built relatively quickly.

I left off the same options for the same reason and my 12/30 order hasn’t even gone D1

The ever elusive OGP!
Seriously considered that color with the two tone brown and tan interior on a Laramie when I ordered my longhorn. Decided to go longhorn because of the better leather and the nicer interior. Really wished it would have been an option offered on the Longhorn trim but I went back to the tried and trie Delmonico red.

Sharp truck man congrats! You will love it.

That is the route his truck took which is similar to mine since it is going to Lordstown as well. I have been writing all of the updates down that I get and times. I just don't have as many as this one !
What site did you use to track the train?

I really wanted the tan interior but didn’t want to pay for it. So I went with a tradesman… very impressed with the HD vinyl seats. They actually feel like really good quality. It’s an H.O. and I was OTD for just under $62k so I did pretty good I think for a local dealer.

There is no site that you can use to track the train (unless you happen to be a business customer of the railroad).
You can either find someone who works for the railroad (or is a customer of the railroad), which is what i did, or you can call the automated system and input your railcar information and it will give you an updated location if there is one. I was fortunate enough to have a relative who works for CSX so I was able to use that connection to get regular location updates. A while back someone posted information about automated phone systems for the railroads. I guess it can be a little touchy and hard to understand in some situations, however I have tried it and it does work.

It`s also important to note that not all trucks are shipped by rail. Some are shipped by boat from ports in mexico to various US ports. If your truck is loaded on a ship, that too can be tracked, although that method DOES in fact use a website.

Where is your ordering dealer located? We can try to figure out where your train or boat is headed based on that info. I am assuming your truck has already hit shipping status?

He is all rail, no boats even though it's going to the same yard as at least 3 other trucks that went by boat for 70 to 96 days.

I would be happy with that. If I had to pick between rail shipping or boat shipping, given the times and the numbers I`ve seen come through here lately, I think I`d bet on the rail being the faster of the two methods.

Mine departed for Garrett Indiana on CSXT today at 0642hrs. It should be following the same route as the post above. If that holds true by that schedule, it would be in Lordstown by Sunday and the dealership is 20 miles from Lordstown Yard ! Getting closer !

Yessir!

If you have the car number and your final destination is a CSX location, you can call 1-877-744-7279 then hit Option 2 then 1 then 3. It will ask if you want weight or location. Say location. It will then ask you to enter the letters of the rail car. I have had success with speaking the letters, others have not. Then it will ask for the numbers of the car. It will then ask if you want to track another rail car, just say done. If a location is available, it will repeat the rail car number and give the location and time. Let me know if it works for you.

Hopefully it doesn't get delayed because of this winter storm that is passing through. I was helping a few members track their Lordstown-bound trains and more than a few of them sat idle for a while, especially when it gets close to Ravenna OH. The one train sat at the FS tower siding just east of Ravenaa for a few days before ultimately moving on.

When you get the "car has been constructively placed" update that's when you know you're in business. The only thing holding you back at that point is a truck ride out of that yard.

I also wanted that color for my Longhorn.. But since it wasn't available I went with Patriot Blue. My 2019 Limited was Delmonico red....
